I am sorry for the misunderstanding of my writing. I thought you were referring to the fact that you might be interested in going with JCT. You are with Central if I am correct. Just thought you might be looking elsewhere. Sorry for the misinterpretation.

We are looking around... Don't want to be blind sided and not know which way to go... So no misinterpretation, but also looking at a few other places as well. Options...

Reading with subdued but unabashed amusement at all the cheerleading for this company...

I brought my own horse (fully and completely paid for) to this stinking rodeo and their inept customer service, load planners and dispatching style just about ruined my business. The lease-purchasees were far worse off than I was, as I could take my ball and go home (I eventually did..) but they were stuck in Johnny-and-Danny-Land...

You guys and gals can do much better than JCT.

If I owned my own truck I would also carefully consider some other companies. But as a lease-operator, JCT does well by me and most everyone else that I know here. But as I've said on here many times, JCT isn't for everyone. Without knowing when you were over here, I can't speak to your problems. Suffice it to say that what I post in this thread speaks for itself. I hope that you're happy with your new company.

I was leased to JCT when John and Danny bought the Orange County Chopper bikes and sent the "showboat" (that new freightliner rig that was supposedly a gift..) to pick them up. I was there when they rolled them out on the yard in front of the office for everyone to gawk at. That was also the day that female driver had the nervous breakdown in the shop because of the negative settlements caused by outrageous repair bills JCT was foisting on her for that POS Cascadia JCT had "sold" her..

Only positives I can say about that place was my DM, who was constantly at the bottom of the crap pile because she actually liked and respected her drivers, and the breakdown folks there at the gate. Never did like how I was treated by the weekend people in dispatch nor most of the shop jocks either...

JCT definitely isn't the place for an experienced owner-operator (as I found out - many months and dollars later - but I needed to get my truck working..) but if you are feeling positive karma with that place, far be it from me to disparage you. Good Luck!

That had to be before the Fall of 2012. Since then the shop has been totally changed. There were some bad apples that got fired. When I was there in September, they treated me like a customer with courtesy and respect. I have never heard anything about a "nervous breakdown" in the shop. Repair bills alone wouldn't cause negative settlements anyway. BTW, my POS Cascadia is doing just fine, thank you.

The leasing experience has been vastly improved since May of last year when the new variable lease was offered, although that wouldn't affect an owner-operator. The positives that you mention are still true, along with others that I have written about on here: average length of haul, and weekly miles, for instance.
