Good Luck, You will do well if you run like these guys run, I am impressed with the way Sharpp keeps the door closed and moving like he does.
I am very interested in doing this as well, I like the way things operate at JCT I was told to get some more recent experience and then get back with them, I was approached recently about going local, I turned in my Background check the other day, I will see what happens in this next week. Be safe out there guys!

I don't like to stop I keep moving. Everyone would think I was stupid if I told what my job was now.. But here it is, I run from Mobile up through Alabama, Tennessee Carolinas and south to Homestead Fl. I work 4 days a week most of the time sometimes 3, rarely 5. Day cab trucks, stay in a motel. In 2 years I have never worked a weekend or a holiday. Made 49,000 last year... At times I think I'm stupid..lol

Dawg! I think that is AWESOME! I'm not sure I'd quit if I was running like that! Good Luck with whatever you decide.

Today was a decent 640 mile jog up to the new Loves west of Chattanooga. This is a nice, big truck stop with a similar feel to the one in Anthony, TX. It has 7 showers and lists 100 spots. Tonight at 8 pm there were dozens of spots available. After seeing the full stops on I-75 in Georgia tonight, I'm sure that this will be my new "go to" truck stop in this area.
A similar running day tomorrow will get me to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. The forecast there for tomorrow night is a low of zero. Yay! At least that'll get me into easy running distance for my Monday delivery. I've got my fingers crossed for a trip back to southern California!
Today I averaged 7.0 mpg with a gross weight of 77k. I'm pretty happy with that. I'm on a streak of heavy loads right now, and it's tough to get great mileage in the hills. It's so easy to just click on the cruise and sit back. To give you an idea of how I work, for the week starting Tuesday afternoon I have 1,911 miles. My "Over RPM" percentage is 0.08%. I wish that meant that I was shifting at 1,400 RPM or less, but I think that it's for the maximum RPM, whatever setting that is. My IDLE is at 0.42%. In the winter I idle longer during pretrip to bring up the temps. My goal is < 0.5%. My TOP GEAR is at 85.12%, and my CRUISE CONTROL is at 63.98%. That means that my CC is on only 75% of the time that I'm in the drive hole. The rest of the time I'm feathering the throttle while climbing a little hill and coasting down the other side to build up speed. On an overpass I might stay in cruise, but bump it down a tick or two once the boost starts to kick in. Then I bump it back up on the other side. After a while it becomes almost automatic.
Tomorrow is back to the winter. I thought that I was going to get a break in Florida, but I didn't see the sun at all in the, "Sunshine State". Ah well. Look for me tomorrow in truck L2502C, heading north, and feeling like a condemned man going up the scaffold, lol.luvtotruck, khans and YosemiteSam Thank this. -
Right after sharpp posted the that last he discovered a post-it on his drivers window. I'm parked directly across from him. We just finished shooting the breeze for a couple hours. Real good guy to chat with!

Well morning everyone. I am now sitting in the Wally world DC waiting for them to unload trailer. After all is said and done with a trip back and forth to the motel and back to yard I have managed 1971 miles on first trip. Trip was 1863 with deadhead and 26 done in Sapulpa trying to leave so I was 82 miles over their paid miles and sadly I was only able to avg 6.2 mpg do to crosswinds and a lot of hills to climb and weight at 78.5k (#### chicken). When I got here and put myself back off duty got a message asking if I was here and sent in a lumper request which was approved way faster than I expected. (Less than 2 mins after I hit send. LoL I think I could get spoiled with responses that fast.) So now I sit waiting to be unloaded and see where I will be going next. Will let you all know after I find out and I will be hoping for a lot better mpg's on next trip this one hurt. But for not having a ScanGuage I guess it coupd have been a lot worse.
Sharpp and Jarhed1964 Thank this. -
