I AM DEFINITELY wearing the wrong kind of footwear for what you're shoveling!

Had another good day driving from Van Horn to Chappell Hill, Texas. I was going to stop in Waller tonight, but that would have required another 30 minute break, so i stopped when I saw the Chappell Hill Bakery and Deli with its huge truck parking lot and called it a day.

This place deserves a special mention. Parking around the Houston area can be a struggle. I've squeezed into the J late and it's no fun. If you happen to be on US 290 between Austin and Houston, you have to search for this place! The food is terrific. The bbq was smoky, there's a good selection of sides, the portions are large, and the price is cheap. A two-meat plate (I opted for the brisket and ribs) with two sides, a thick slice of home-made bread and a tasty Shiner Bock set me back less than $15. Plus the parking lot is big and doesn't look like it will fill up tonight. I saved it to my GPS even before eating, lol.

I got a pre-plan this afternoon too. After delivering in Waller in the morning, I pick up in Houston and deliver in Stockton, CA. That's close to 1,900 miles, so my average LOH continues to climb. I have 10 hours available for tomorrow, then I only pick up 4.5 hrs on Saturday. This load delivers on Tuesday sometime, so I might be able to stop by the house. Have to look closer to see how the miles/clock fall.

Mileage. Today the long downhill run fought the head/cross wind to a draw and I managed 7.2 mpg. For the week (since Tuesday afternoon) I'm at 1,357 miles and 7.3 mpg. That's disappointing after that one good day, but considering my gross weight of over 76,000 lbs, I'll take it.

You gotta say it sounded good.
I know but it isn't very deep! It runs pretty good!
I appreciate the time you took in traffic to talk to me!

    Thanks.

Well I had my worst fuel run of the past 6 months today. 444 miles at 5.8. I'm going to have put in the extra effort to salvage the trips fuel economy. Half the damage was in my right foot and personal desire to make it all the way into the ranch hand on us 30 in Montpelier Id. I arrived here with 1 minute to spare on my 70 hour clock. The other contributing factor was a 20 mph head wind most of the day and then 40-50 mph gust the last 60 miles. Tomorrow and the next day I won't be so tight on time so I can put forth the effort to bring my numbers back up.

Yeow! Headwinds suck. I'm not looking forward to that delightful combination of winter winds and fuel blends.

I know I left .5 mpg on the table if I hadn't been so bull headed. Decisions have consequences.

Picking up in Houston now. It's 1,881 paid miles. As for cash flow, next week I have about 3,300 miles. There was a relay that I had to estimate my miles since I didn't ask, but it will be a strong week. THIS week I have the load that I just finished at 1,724 miles plus this one to total 3,605 miles! Yes, that's on e-logs. Excel says that if I can maintain my current 7.3 mpg for the week, I'll earn $1,274. This load is only 27,950, so I'm hoping for much more!

I'll get through Phoenix on Sunday headed to Quartzite. Somehow I didn't see your texts until I got parked. I'm currently at 5,782 miles for the month. To be on pace for 13,500 I would need to have 5,850. Tomorrow is a planned 523 mile day. It's a little dicey since I'll only have 8.5 hrs available, but if I make it, I'll be 5 miles ahead of schedule, lol.

Soule_Man is keeping me busy, lol. He's running to central Missouri for Sunday and has a preplan to Connecticut after that. Hopefully the planners can get him a load going down I-95 so he can get through the house and find something else to gripe to me about!

Nice to hear that you are right on for your goal, Please never think you need to jump on a crazy text from me while you are driving, I just activated my voice command on my phone and it is right on! That is funny about Soule_Man griping about stuff!! If they take me, wait till I get out there! :yes2557:
