I hear ya, I don't know if it is just me or if someone has temporarily hacked into the loads and screwing it all up! I have had more than the usual string of funky load situations the last 2 weeks. All in all it works out and still making money just drives ya nuts sometimes.

Last week when in Laredo woke up and noticed that a chip in my windshield that was about 1/4 inch long grew over night into a crack from mid way of the far right passenger side all the way to the top of the window and the bottom of the crack was starting to go across the middle.. I'm thinking Crapp! this isn't good.. But had a load to pick up so decided I would get that taken care of first. Spent the night there on the OC lot so wasn't going anywhere yet just wanted to find my trailer get the paper work etc..
Well needless to say the trailer I was picking up didn't have any paper work on it so I went inside to see if they had it in the office at the fuel desk. They didn't have it and had to go into the dispatchers office to get the paper. A little unusual but had that happen before so no big deal. Except this time as I am walking away I take a look at the paper work and it says destination Spartanburg SC. I'm like hold up! Not going to SC I'm suppose to be going west to Cali. What the.... So I explain this to the office guy and he says give me 30 mins and I will check it out. Go back to my truck and the qualcom starts to go off and changes my load from San Bernardo CA to SC. Again I'm like what the...
Ok now I'm concerned. So go back inside and they tell me your load has been changed. Well, no sh*tt Sherlock! (thinking to myself) So I go call my ICA and tell her whats up, she comes back and says I don't know how but the load you had has been taken by someone else. She gave the option to decline the load but I thought about it for a minute confirmed it was a little less miles and paid the same so instead of wasting time decided to just take it anyway. Time is now running short and decide to get going knowing I have insurance on the windshield I should be able to get it fixed when I stop for 10 hour break.
I get to the gate to leave and well of course they say sorry but your trailer has an open work order on it and you need to take it back to the shop. I calmly say "ok will do" and back up head over to the shop. By now I am starting to think maybe I better go back to bed and start this day over. At this point it is starting to get funny and disgusting at the same time.
Long story short, I got my windshield fixed while they working on the trailer. Windshield took about 20 minutes. Trailer took and hour.
Had to pay for it, $134.00 Schneider takes it out of my settlement then I send in the receipt with the claim number that the Insurance company gave me and they reimburse you. Other choice was to wait till I get to SC and they would send a mobile service out to fix it at no cost upfront. But I really didn't want to waste the time on the other end of this load scheduling, waiting (they only had blocks of specific times that it could be done) and driving that far with it cracking like it was.

And you would have gotten a ticket probably too. Same thing happen to us coming out of holland Michigan a rock flew up and caught the bottom right driver side. Within dive min the crack was almost five inches up the middle of the windshield. I called insurance and told her we would be at the Gary yard in and hour and a half and she connected me to Safelight. The guy called and he was already at the yard,15 min before we got there. The guy was great. Has it done in less than 12 minutes. I sent an email to the company saying what a great job he did. No out of pocket. Just a little time.

After drop in SC, P/U out of Graniteville SC and went up to Rome NY. Nice up there in the summer! Then grabbed a load from Cortland NY back down to Carlisle PA. Had dinner with the wifey and spent the night at home. ahhhh
All in all even though I wasn't planning on coming back this way so soon it all works out. I still made a descent check for the week and used Schneider's screw up on that Laredo load to get me a little time at home.
Personally I like to take our challenges out here and play it like a Chess game. Always thinking and planning our moves to maintain a profitable business/position.
Now, in North Carolina on a nice light load heading to the Indianapolis area.

I'm picking up here in Albany, GA, then heading to New Caney, TX, didnt find anything going west so going back to SC, hopefully from there I can head west. Trying to get home.

Also every couple of weeks there is a light load going to Ontario CA out of Houston TX. It is a driver assist unload but just Empty Barrels easy stuff. Last time I took it I asked the receiver how often they get that delivery they said every 2 weeks.
News you can use! : )Freakin Thanks this. -
I'll be looking out for that, in the meantime tomorrow I deliver in TX, then heading to SC, then VA.
