Tri Pac E (when it was working) would give me about 6 hrs when running the cool air.. the heater will last longer. Usually I will idle the truck when hot or cold until i'm ready to sleep. Then turn truck off and run the unit. It is kinda self defeating but 6 hours of not idling is better than nothing.. Still manage to average about 7.5 MPG doing it this way. No, don't have the capabilities to dump my airbags some 2013 trucks do, but mine don't.
Thanks I'm glad I stuck with the 2011 with the diesel tripac and the capability to dump the airbags. Sometimes it comes in really handy.
Sounds similar to my truck! I am loving my diesel APU while taking a 34 today in 92 degree Orlando FL!
Yeah will see .. hopefully when I get it fixed it will last longer but not getting my hopes up.. Weird set up! It was designed for emission and to save fuel, but if it only last 6 hrs, then what? You have to idle to charge the system anyway.. No sense! God forbid you do a 34!!! Have to idle truck most of time or go without power and air.. It's a bit retarded they put these units on the truck .. Diesel APU is best for comfort of driver.. It may cost more for maintenance but it still beats the electric tri pac ..
They told me that if I wanted a diesel apu to order early before they install epu and put down 1800.00 they will install it on the evolutions.
With newer Cascadia evo freightliner is programming there parksmart with optized idling, so when batteries get low the truck will automatically start up and charge batteries. Still not as good as a diesel fired apu. Also u can get a new thermo King tri pac with particle filter to b cali coplient
