Absolutely. If you’re not a prostitute for miles, run 1150 miles and get paid a salary which equates to a dollar a mile, in this case it’s a mute point. Pay me a dollar a mile for 1150 miles, and I won’t worry one bit about a bonus. Again, like what has been said over and over again in this thread, a salary every week far outweighs chasing miles.

Yep that's it in a nutshell. No matter where i drive there are gonna be weeks like that. On cpm im gonna feel that financially, especially after being home for 6 days. Working somewhere else that would be a 0 paycheck followed by a few hundred dollars the next. Ouch!

You were just crying the other day about sitting around , then you were so happy when you did the math on all the miles you were chasing.

Crying? Oh about doing 3 resets while under 3 different loads? Right. Me no like babysitting freight. After 41 years of this nonsense, and 2 years to my retirement, I’d rather stay home and enjoy mi casa and familia. Not sitting under loads. But you are correct, while I’m out here, I’d rather be working. It makes the time away from home and family go by quicker

I’m not under a salary, so when I sit under a load, I get ill. This is why I cry when sitting.

Lol I don’t care about your house or your pool I’ve seen it already, I asked a simple question and your were all over it saying money is a mute point , looks like you care about it just as much as I do.

At this point in my life, I care very much about my house, my pool, my retirement account, my vacations and my lifestyle, all brought to me by miles run from my job, real estate from my wife’s job, and a hefty milestone that we passed on Friday, my house and pool that I care about now has I Year left on it’s mortgage. You see, it all derived from money, which comes from miles. I, like most other OTR drivers get paid for miles run. My point was, it’s much better getting paid by salary then miles, for most people. I’m in a very unique situation, I don’t need a bonus to make my bills, so if I was in his position, I’d take that salary over any form of mileage pay, with those miles he ran, and the salary he gets, who cares about a monthly mileage bonus? I mean we’re probably talking about $300? Maybe I didn’t clarify myself, but if I’m away from everything I’ve worked for the last 40 years, I’d want to work, not sit. The salary is good for the miles run, but the down time would have me on a plane to the house, which I have done about 4 times the last 20 years.

I want to apologize to the regulars here, this is your thread, I didn’t mean to hijack it. You guys have a pretty cool gig going here. If I wasn’t comfortable where I am, and this close to retirement, I’d give Shipex serious consideration. You boys carry on, I still enjoy reading what you all post.

It's all good! Even us salary guys don't like sitting. It's just a thing with us truckers i think. We are out here to keep moving.
With salary it's just a lot less stressful when we do sit.

Bumper, Vic Firth and JohnBoy Thank this.
