You will end up moving or at least assisting in unloads from time to time. That's part of the job. Use technology every where you can. It's a back saver. Don't let impatience ever dictate how you unload if you must. Always "take the time" to get the proper equipment. If you rush, that's when accidents seem to happen. And seeing that you were in the construction business just like me, you know exactly what I'm talking about. I'll bet you and I could come up with plenty of stories that would support that theory.
We don't want to see you injured in any way. -
Why not the log book?
-
Does Watkins & Shepard have trainers for x amount of time as you learn or is it just a short orientation period with book and driving tests before they just stick you out on the road?
-
To paraphrase Yoda: "Do or do not. There is no try."
Whether or not you succeed at this new lifestyle, has nothing to do with your ability. That, my friend, you have in ample supply. It's simply a choice that has been placed in front of you. Everything you need for this third career is yours for the taking.
Remember, ending one career, and starting a new one happens to many of us. Don't look at any of it as a failure. It's a teacher. Shake the dust off and move on. The dawn of a new day approaches.

Blue Screen, Rattlebunny and chralb Thank this. -
It is not required and why give them more then needed. They verify the vehicle info and what you are hauling, bring your log and 5 minutes could turn into hours if they find something wrong.Wedge, wulfman75, sammycat and 1 other person Thank this.

Why open up a can of worms. Makes plenty of sense.
They have enough on their plate worrying about what's in your wagon. -
I don't want to hijack Chris's thread, but....
W/S accepts graduates from their list of approved schools.
Orientation and training lasts 10 days, where they will review and enhance your driving skills, in addition to educating you with their policies and procedures. If you make it through the 10 day training, you'll be given your own truck and will head out solo.
That's a brief summary. If you read this thread from the beginning, Chris has been providing us with details of his training.chralb Thanks this. -
Chris gives some great info in this thread. You might want to check out Cage's orientation thread as well.
No trainers, but a 10 day training session/orientation. Several different driving scenarios including city, rural, and mountain driving as well as the classroom paperwork stuff.chralb Thanks this. -
Yep...What Wedge and Wulfman said....LOL
Thanks guys!!
And you DEFFINETELY what to check out Cagetruckers thread. He's the guy I got this idea from and he taught me MUCH about the orientation process.
