Congrats Chris. Godspeed as you head into the next phase of your journey. You can bet I will be along for the ride. You have quite a following here and we would all be disapointed if you didn't post any longer.
You are in God's hands and he will continue to guide your steps.

Please use caution doing that up and downshifting on mountains.

With a heavy load pushing you, it can sure cause problems !!!!

I start down mountains at least 2 gears lower than I used to climb them.........

I wish you well, enjoy the road, and keep us posted !!

Hope all went well today Chris. It sounds like this evaluation will determine where you'll fit in best with the W/S family. We'll look forward to your next post, and we'll keep an eye out for ORG.

I think a TTR group photo is in order. :yes2557:

    Hey everybody,

OK, I am going to spend one more night at the hotel with the same guy...LOL (I may sleep outside).....:biggrin_2559:

Well today was a lot of protocol this morning, my HPE this afternoon (I passed) and this evening I got my TRUCK number. At "some point" tomorrow, maybe early, maybe late me and my room mate will ride with another driver to Mertle Miss to get our trucks.

Tim told dispatch that "I'll go anywhere" so it may be some time before I get back to Jersey and the rest of my stuff. I really don't know what will happen. I "Hope" they send me there so I can just get everything I'll need out there and be set. There's some settling in to be done among the driving ...ya know?

I also hope the truck is clean and I don't have to take much time to do that. But we'll see. Right now I'm just happy I've made it and these folks are giving me a shot to prove myself.

Supplies and money will be VERY thin at first as the last 200 for orientation will be direct deposited but not till NEXT week! This is largely because I finished the 10 days in 7 so the process just didn't keep up....LOL

I have some of the original money from week one and two and I'll do my best to not take any advances. It will really depend on how long they keep me out there before getting me home. I brought a very light amount of stuff to orientation so again, we'll see.

I have to admit, there is a fair amount of paperwork involved with hauling for these folks. Nothing like what I experienced over that month I was OTR. But if I can get mostly D&H loads, I should get a handle on it fairly quickly I think. I keep teasing the guys at W/S about how much they need to "automate" things in this day and age....LOL

Well, I think I'll treat myself to nice "little" meal and try to get some shut eye early tonight. The ride to Miss is about 9 hours so I may catch some zzzzzzz on the way as well.

    Thank you sir!

Oh I'll post for sure. It's only a question of when I'll get to it next. But I think I shouldn't have much trouble keeping up once I get out there. I look forward to getting to this forum as much as anyone. It's pretty much my journal now.

From your keyboard to God's eyes my friend! AMEN! :biggrin_25514:

That's a great theory and the very one we were taught in school "IF" you actually climbed a hill first. But.....

What about when you come off a plateau to a big downhill mountain? Or you're in your gear and come up on a wreck? Or it's icey and you need to slow down? There are many situations where shifing (up or down) may be required. That's where "this" shifting comes in and that's pretty much what Black Mountain teaches you.

    LOVE the prayer Blue Screen!

I've been using a simple one ever since I started climbing in a truck. I say it before my foot hits the step.

"Lord Please keep me and all those around me safe today"

I'll have to work a bit to memorize yours but I LIKE it!! [IMG]

Did you work out something with W/S to only do D/H's? Because a good amount of their freight is furniture that you'll have to tailgate and sometimes even run into the store for them. Not to mention the general merchandise acct's W/S picks up like Pier One, Kmarts or etc. where you have to help finger print.

Chris good luck tomorrow! So if you get the truck tomorrow, any idea of when you will get your first load?
Hopefully you can make do for the next short while on your limited funds. I know T/S food is expensive. Alot of TTR members say they try to pick up stuff at places like Walmart. Even some PB and J and bread or canned things ( you can make do with cold soup and ravioli if you have too!) until you can get some more of your stuff and get what you need for the truck.
Any idea what kind of truck W/S has? Freightliners Volvos?
Good luck tomorrow Driver! and I like your's and Bluescreens prayers! As one person said to me, ''any day you don't kill a wagonload of kids is a good day!''

    Thanks Sammycat.

Well, I have no clue where they'll send me or what I'll be hauling but I'd imagine they won't waste any time getting out there.

I'll be getting a freightlinner which is actually what I want. I like the room in them, I rode in one for that month and I trained in one so it's kind of a glove now...ya know?

In truth, as long as it's clean, pulls freight and is reliable, I'm happy! :biggrin_25525:

I don't eat at truck stops. They're for resting, showers, fueling and the occasional truck maintanence supplies.... period.

I buy all my food at Wal Mart and get other things at dollar stores. I know how to eat healthy and S...T....R...E...T...C...H...a Buck! LOL
