Chris, I think if you let them know you'd like to head to Jersey for your stuff, they'll work you back that way. I think everyone's in the same boat at the beginning.

Well, they actually started out as an OTR company. They bought this whole furniture contract and yep, it's a large part of what they do on the East cost. But they still run OTR out west and that's what I've applied for.

But, if that's what I have to do, I'll just have to find a way to cope now won't I? I just hope I can afford a hand truck and dolly SOON!! ....LOL...:biggrin_25525:

There will be D/H's, but mostly live loads/unloads, all you have to do is bump the dock.

    However....
This company's bread and butter is furniture. Be assured at some point you will have to hop up into the trailer and had furniture down to people. Just make sure to take your time, and if it's stacked high, ask someone to come up there and help you. Also you might want to invest in a hand truck as pushing/pulling heavy furniture time and time again from the nose of a 53' trailer gets old....

Anyways, CONGRATS on making it thru! Dunno if I'll ever get a chance to meet you now as I've just accepted a new run they are starting next week. I'll be driving from the LA area to the desert between there and Phoenix and doing a trailer switch with the other driver. That's truly all D/H baby!

With what I've read, you did your homework before even getting to orientation, knew what to expect, came there ready and willing to learn and work hard to get where you are now. You will do fine! Just remember, I'm just a phone call away if you ever need help with anything...

    Drive safe, my brother!

Get your dolly. When I signed up for OTR, every load out of SFS was a hand offloader. You may have to wait a little longer if you require help which may delay a stop until the next day with how tight some of the runs can be, but dont get in a hurry and F your back up all over again. Also get use to hearing the excuse from a lot of customers.... "ooooooh, I can't because my back hurts."

This finally explains to me why I saw a W/S truck, heading north on the 15 near my house, and it had a dolly as a passenger.

Is there no room in the storage box area on the truck to hold the dolly ?

He's probably had a full day with driving to Mississippi and checking out his assigned tractor.

Friday is not a good day to get started. He may have sit until Monday AM.

It will give him time to clean the inside of his truck and check the whole truck for any items to be repaired or replaced.

    GOOD LUCK CHRIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talked to him last night and today was very much up in the air on when they were going to leave and arrive. Chris also wasn't sure if they were going to dispatch him right off or what.

I agree Wedge his first post back should be very interesting indeed!!!!
He will have his own shiny key to play with!! ROTFLMAO!!!!:biggrin_2559::biggrin_255:
