LOL, didn't I tell you a few pages back that after all that memorization of the shift ratio chart for the Detroit, that you'd get a Volvo with the Cummins? That's just how it goes...hopefully they can get you into another truck asap so you can get out there and make some money. I have the Volvo with the Cummins and Meritor transmission, and I'm happy with it, and it has almost 700k on it and it's an '05. Beats the heck out of the auto-shift I had when I first got out of training....

Hey Chris -well well welcome to the wonderful world of trucking huh? If it COULD GO WRONG IT DID!! At least you took it all in stride and ran with it (pun intended!!) Sounds like you sailed through, to say the least, a very challanging experience and ya gotta wonder if they set you up to 'test' you one last time outta the gate (someone already said this) and maybe? See how you can handle the 'real' world when you have a live load to go.
The ex had an 07 Volvo (auto) and I actually thought it had way more room in it than the Freightliner he trained on. It was not bad although missing alot of things but had tons of storage. I guess it's what you are used to and once you get your stuff from home and get settled you will figure it all out.
Enjoy the shower and REAL bed and probably the AC too since you will be hearing at some point in the future about your idle time LOL!
What a nice compliment to W/S to hear you say that you felt you were treated like a person-not a warm body or even less.
GREAT NEWS on ORG!! I hope you went to the Swift thread to update his as you will see lots and lots of posts and speculations.
Be safe driver and KEEP POSTING!! (when you can I get it!!! -
Sammy, I'm not 100% on this but I think the 07 model Volvo's have the same extra 6" bump outs on the sides the FL's do. So yeah, that extra foot makes a HUGE difference in a truck. Kinda funny, nobody would notice an extra foot in thier bedroom...but in a truck? It's like moving UP TOWN!!
My issue isn't so much for "stoarge" space for things like clothes. It's ALL about that cooler size as I eat well from Wally world and need the space. Now again, that was based on two people and I'm simply a humble ONE...LOL Also, that upper bunk with no matress in an FL makes a great shelf for the crock pot too...I've cooked many a good meal that way.

Honestly folks, I know... I know you will ALL think I'm crazy but, I feel a bit guilty about all this. I'm simply not one who likes to let a task go unfinished. But I know in my heart I did everything I could think of to make it happen. But I wouldn't ruin thier truck to do so.
Ok, Ok, the thought of a sudden FLAME BURST was "maybe" on my mind too...........
Wedge, difference-maker and sammycat Thank this. -

Chris, if memory serves, Cage did a multi-truck hop when he first started. Maybe it is a test. I've known some guys who would whine over their first truck having a problem.
Staying cool shows everyone how you react under adversity. Enjoy the rest, you've earned it.
Assuming you keep the Volvo, take the time to go over the truck with a fine tooth comb. Might as well have them take care of any other problems while it's in the shop.
