Most carriers have you do some variation of the Atlas Ergonomics Pre-Work screen. Weight lifting examples would be lifting 30 lbs (up to your waist) and walking the length of a trailer and back. They would repeat with varying weight amounts. Duck walks, squats, horizontal push/pull, and "step, step and kneel" tests which simulates getting in and out of the trailer. You may be asked to lift 30lbs. over your head, 1 rep. They usually monitor your BP and heart rate at specific intervals. There is usually no time limit. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
i can help here i just did it today, the W/S specific one. nothing too crazy. they made me walk on a treadmill for 5 minutes, check your mobility kind of similair to the dot physical. i had to lift a box with weights and walk around, it varied up to 70 pounds, nothing crazy. they check to make sure you know how to use proper lifting techniques. check your bp and pulse before and after. thats basically it, nothing too intense. i wouldnt worry.
Sorry BNR32. I answered my own question. Poor reading skills on my part. AT, layoff the coffee prior to the test.
well 70lbs isn't crazy but it is 60% of my body weight lol, I'm gonna feel real stupid if I fail this HPE haha I lift 1000's and I do mean 1000's of 50lbs cases every day at work so I'm hoping I'll do ok. and thanks for the help BNR32! American Trucker
