I hope you have some too!
Seems almost everyone I've met that has asked for home time is getting it!

I'm REALLY greatful and told her I owe her one. She laughed and said no I don't. I've done a few favors for her and other dispatchers and they really do remember. I think that's really cool!!
I can't speak for anyone but me but it seems simply taking what they have to give you with a smile and a thanks goes a long way. We just simply have to understand that not every load is gonna be "the big haul" but they need to get it moved and that's what we're here for. But I've found that almost without exception, right after a short, not so great load, I get a boomer...LOLWedge, walstib, wulfman75 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Good to see you will be home for Thanksgiving (at least the extended Thanksgiving weekend). I hope all the other truckers that read your thread are on their way home as well. You ladies & gents bust your hump for weeks at a time and definitely deserve a great holiday meal, and a few hours to put your feet up and remember what it was like to be home every night.
On a side note, I am sure there are many newbies that are truly thankful for the information they receive on this site. Even though you don't often think about it, those of you that share information and keep a positive attitude are performing a great service.
Keep up the great work everyone, and be safe out there. Happy Thanksgiving!

As are you by being a good company owner and treating your drivers right!
I had the opportunity to meet one of cpape's drivers Saturday in Eaton OH. For those in question, he confirmed everything cpape has said about how they are treated and regarded at his company. That speaks VOLUMES to me!
Happy Thanksgiving and God bless you and yours cpape. -
Hey Sweetie!!
Glad to hear you will be home for the holiday weekend and I am sure your family will save you some goodies! My family long ago started celebrating the holidays the weekend before or after as there are so many nurses in the family and we all had to work one or all the holidays-this way no one missed the family get together. It has worked out nice over the years. This year we did Thanksgiving 11/21 which also was my Dad's 80th birthday! It's not the date it's the people you want to be with that make the day special!!
Stay safe everyone on the day or days ahead until you are with those you love!!!!truckerdaddy24, chralb and Wedge Thank this. -
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
One of the things I enjoy is remembering one-at-a-time the things I'm thankful and grateful for. Among these things is the people on this thread, these forums and website as a whole. This takes a couple cups of coffee at least.
What a blast to watch from the sideline as Chris and ORG went thru school only to later find out they were in the same class. The many replies and thanks that appear at the bottom of posts that have rarely had even the shadow of negativity on them. One thing I really enjoy is the positive statements here aren't "syrupy"! In my banking world, that syrupy and counterfeit stuff flows from a 10" pipe at high pressure! This place is free from that.
What a long list I have of people (some here) to be grateful and thankful for!
Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Talk about syrupy.. LOL
Same to ya, Merlin. Have a great Thanksgiving. -
Well, I tried everything I could think of to get these folks to take this load either late tonight or tomorrow morning so I could make it home for Thanksgiving day but.....nope....
So, at roughly 328 miles out I'll sit here at the Pilot in Greenville VA for Thanksgiving day and deliver on Friday morning. I'd have taken it all the way in but I know enough about that area of Jersey to know that...A) finding a place to park would be a nightmare and...B) I rather hang here than there as at least there are some trees around here....
Being the holiday weekend I decided to take the scenic route through PA rather than the nightmare of the I-95 war zone of never ending construction through Washington and Baltimore....
So I'll run the 81 to the 76 and drop down the short hop on 95 to Cranberry. It's only a few more miles than the other route and the tolls are about the same.
So I wish eveyone a VERY Happy Thanksgiving and remember, no matter what your position is, there is always something to be thankful for. Even if it's simply another day and thus, another shot at making your life or the lives of others a little better.
God Bless Everyone!wulfman75, Wedge, the flying scotsman and 1 other person Thank this. -
Chris, Sorry you have to spend Thanksgiving away from your family. It would have been nice if you could have delivered ahead of schedule.
Happy Thanksgiving, my friend. Don't forget to call the folks (I'm sure you'll remember). Be extra vigilant. The holiday season is upon us. Watch out for those who should be watching out for themselves.
May God's light shine upon you!
