Here is the temp fix for now.

Before and after pics. Hopefully this lasts for the summer till I get back and can strip everything off and have the frame sand blasted, primered and painted properly.

@Hurst Love the black wheels. If I wouldn't get my hands slapped I'd be painting everything shiny on the truck with Plasti-Dip in black. Our truck guy would go into cardiac arrest if I did that and I may not get new trucks anymore.

I'm not really into the Darth Vader look thats so popular these days. I do like chrome and shiney parts.

When I bought the truck it came with the basic steel wheels, painted white. They were showing their age, pitting and some surface rust starting. I thought about replacing them with new aluminum wheels,.. and I still may get a hair up my butt and do that. But the cheap bastage in me thought about painting them white,.. then I thought about how long they would stay white/clean and how often I would have to touch them up to keep them clean and white, I am OCD about things like that. I took the lazy way out,.. Some scuff pads and a few cans of Rustolium Satin black did the trick.

The wheels are stupid dirty right now, from being parked in a dirt lot for over a month. Been meaning to buy some centercaps and some cheap plastic chrome lug nut covers for the back wheels. Thought it might make them stand out a bit.

I guess thats the beauty of owning your own truck. Good/bad/ugly,.. what ever,.. I can do with it what I want.

Currently saving my pennies for a new-ish 579. I've made up my mind and I'm going to get one by next spring. Probably sell this one or trade it. Would make a great truck for someone looking for a starter truck to become an O/O. Its been a great truck mechanically for me. Short of doing an inframe,.. everything else has been done to the truck. Ugly as sin,.. but a very good money maker.

I thought it was an odd request,.. but I'm fine with showing how bad it was.

Personally I like the look of the black wheels with shiny caps etc. Just my opinion. I used to turn myself black once a month with the buffer turning the aluminum into a mirror. Not any more, the last time I buffed shiny crap was at Big Dog and that was a weekly task.

But it was worth it ;)

That would be some serious polishing there. Almost a full time job by the looks of it.

My ex father inlaw has a 94 Heritage and a 2004 Road King. We still go out once in a while. Being the 'Youngin' if I want to ride,.. I have to polish up the whips before we head out. The Road King is easy,.. but the Heritage is chromed out and puts my OCD into another world when I start on that thing.

It has a small nick on the left tail pipe,.. and when ever we stop somewhere and people compliment the bikes,.. all I think about is that little nick and inside my little voice screams,.. "How can you not see that ugly nick?" LOL

Are you talking the first picture or the second because I'm not man enough to take care of the regular maintenance in the second one.

But you want to talk about OCD and keeping shiny things shiny on motorcycles, try having 20+ of them on display with 2500 people a day walking around putting fingerprints on EVERYTHING!

Meant the chrome panel on the trailer,.. I dont want to think about polishing the scooters. My wife gets bent out of shape if I start to flirt,.. so best I stick with that trailer. LOL

Dont get me started on finger prints. My wife and I met because I had a black on black, Vortech supercharged 96 Mustang GT and she had an Acrtic white 96 Mustang Cobra.

I bought the car new as a present to myself after my divorce. I was (Sorta still am) very heavy into the late night street car scene. I used to polish that car twice a week and it drove me nuts if someone would lean on it or touch it because black shows EVERYTHING.
