I read the article strange thing is a rocker arm failed. Interesteing though. The ones I've talked to said the EGR cooler was the biggest problem.
I know at some point I will have to upgrade from my two 7.3's, but not sure what it will be 6.0 or 6.7 ? the 6.4 I've read is by far the worst.
Mechanics say a 6.0 can be patched for long periods and when a 7.3 is done it's done. The variable vane turbo does give it a boost. Another thing ford man told me is 6.0 is lots more sensitive towards oil changes. I change my oil at 8-10k and he said 4k was limit on 6.0. the 6.7 will shutdown without oil changes as dictatated by factory.

The problem with the 6.0's is the oil cooler plugging and failing. Drain and flush with distilled water, then refill with a ELC Non Silicate Coolant and Distilled water. Install a coolant filter and roll. That's what I did to my 2007 and it was running great when I sold it with 297,xxx miles on it. I ran Gearheads tunes on it from the time I bought it with about 10,000 miles on it. I'm currently looking for another 2005-2007 F-350-450 to add to our operation.

I was referring to Fords since you are driving one.

One of our drivers let me take a very long look at it from top to bottom.

It eliminates the shade tree work or casual. Even a belt is a major deal.

I have a scanner and most of my shop equipment from prior business.
So not much of a big deal. Repalced trans five times in one truck in driveway.
front seal, a/c ,alt. , starter, and clutch I have done myself on the road.
Last thing I replaced was radiator last summer in autozones lot in abilene Tx.
I've piddled a little with the 6.0 a little but not enough to run one.
I was working on trucks when you'd replace a head and piston and liner on side of road. I beat half the guys here don't know detroit originally made 2 cycles and still dose.

No this guy built two ZF650's for me http://www.joestransmission.net/
Total crook one had zero miles on it with a wore out shift in it.
Use's substandard parts and doesn't put all parts in as claimed.
First one lasted 65,000 beofre it was taken out and redone, second had two forks put in it beofre being used and then popped five teeth off input shaft and was replaced by repaied first one, now first one is making a liitle noise and will be replaced by second twice repaired one. The first tranmission lasted till 365,000 and has been out five times now due to this transmission shop.
ZF650 is a good trans if built by ZF.

Does anyone still run them? Beside some of the old buses and equipment?
Detroit diesel keeps the road from rusting use to be the motto.
I still have a couple of my old detroit tools.
