Makes sense. How old are you allowed to go with your late model dodge? I would think you want it to be rust free and still looking good?

 

Depends on the company.

Most companies have different enforcement rules for existing contractors with a history of performance versus an unknown.

 

Getting something new just doesn't make good business sense. I was thinking around 10 Years old with around 150k miles.

Limited. My brother and I are looking at partnering up. He drives OTR and is an O/O. We are looking at driving a 1ton and 53' trailer. Depending on backhaul availability, we would put the 1 ton on the trailer.

 

If your somewhat mechanical that's fine, but if your going to need a mechanic for everything then you would be better with a much newer truck.

 

Older truck, parts are harder to find and the history of a truck may not contribute well to the increased work load as well.

 

So...look for an 08 or newer?

 

Limited experience, no contact with any of the transport companies and buying a truck is like putting the cart before the horse.

 

I have been reading a lot of your posts and have been trying to figure out who would be the best company to work for. I am trying to get a good sense of what would be the best vehicle to run as well. I have seen that dome companies want you to run new to 2 years old and others are not being overly specific. I am trying to learn as much as possible before jumping in with both feet and you seemed to be one of the more wise and business savvy people on here.
