Ryder sales

From the poor experiences I have had with their Class 8 rental fleet, and stories from drivers that have run trucks in their lease maintained fleet, I would be kinda scared to buy something that they no longer want. The drivers that ran their equipment used to say they drove "rent a wreck" trucks! I'd want to put whatever you were interested under a mechanic's microscope 1st, or get an outrageous deal dollar wise.

 

I work for Ryder (Integrated Logistics, dedicated account). Run, don't walk, to another dealership.

1. Their prices are from a little above market to a LOT ($25,000 for a 2000 single axle daycab?!).

2. Their maintenance is unbelievably shoddy. The ONLY thing they seem capable of doing well is oil/lube, and they do that on schedule. They have no concept of preventative maintenance and only fix issues if it strands a driver or gets placed out of service.

3. If you're in the salt belt, they do not wash salt off the trucks. I've driven trucks from their Watertown location that were so rusted I thought they'd been in a field for awhile. They cure this by spraypainting over everything.

Not worth your time, look elsewhere.

 

Their trucks on the Truck Paper site have high miles with prices that are just as high. Penske seems to be the same way. They will probably tell you that the prices are justified due to their excellent maintenance program. Others have already alluded to what is more likely to be the truth in that area.

I agree with everyone else. Trucks at Ryder only get PM'd no sooner than every 24,000 miles. Sometimes, much longer. You never know how a Ryder was treated through out it's life. Might've been driven be a moron, who would redline rev a cold engine, grind every gear as he/she shifted, etc. You'll never know...

I have a ryder truck its a 2005 freightliner columbia 70" sleeper truck it is super super clean i have had it over a year now and have had no problems the tires were junk that thay ran other than that very good truck i gave $18,500 for it with 668,000 miles
Yes i would buy another truck from them again and also my truck thay did the oil 15,000 to 21,000 miles most were around 18 and 19,000 miles

 

I drove many, many ryder trucks, from the Jax lot-to miami.

To be shipped overseas, never had a problem with one of them.....

just my experience...........
