They require a $500 deposit. A $100 deposit before class starts to reserve your spot. The remaining $400 is due upon the first day of class. This only happens if they accept your application to go to MTI. Im guessing this kind of lets them know you are serious about attending and should you change your mind right before class starts helps them recoup some of the costs of setting you up for class. They are not going to ask for this unless you ARE accepted to attend MTI.

If they take money and release you prior to going out on the road without a valid reason, I would think they would have many law suits going on over it. It wouldn't be financially beneficial to them. -
I am with you. I would think you fill out an app, get accepted, then give them the deposit. Maybe he will come back on here and clarify. -

I was told I was accepted and that I needed to pay the deposit. Then they asked me to fax over my DOT physical long form and when I called to say I had faxed it, Alice said "hold one second, ok I will put it in for final review to the director" I was like WTH? I honestly it's my weight but they will never say that. I'm 6'1" 440lbs but have no problems doing anything. I don't know though because all she would say was, "we have better apps at this time"

Depends on where you live. Most times I park at terminal and 4 wheel it home. I just don't live in a freight lane.
