If things havent changed from when I left there, you could idle the truck as much as you want. They dont offer a APU, they dont offer IdleAire, so you have to do what you have to do.
As far as speed, last I knew it was 65, fuel bump to 67. Those will be going to 63 I heard.

I havent heard any negative comments about US Xpress lately. I would like to know how it is working for Us Xpress as a solo driver not a team driver. How do they treat solo drivers, are the miles good, money, and hometime and equipment. Also wat is their idiling policy, do they have apu's and whats the speed restrictions. Thank you and be safe.

From what I have heard, they treat them like Covenant treats their drivers. And I never hear to much good about either company !! Plus they are basically team companies...Good Luck
Drop'n'Hook Thanks this. -
I thought they quit hiring students? In fact I know someone with 6 months, and they told him he needed 1 year to hire. I'm sure someone can verify.

Where do you live Drop N Hook ? I know they have some of the best dedicated accounts out there.....and since I work for them, I have the inside scoop...6mos OTR or 1 Year local work will get you in a seat as long as you pass the other criteria they have.....

Hey rDavidson. I'm from the Dayton oh area as well. I drove for USX in early 08. Ran team with a friend of mine. Can't say we enjoyed it too much. I currently Drive dump and lowboy's for an excavating company out of Arcanum. The work is starting to get slow and shows no sign of improvement. I will more than likely get laid off here soon. USX constantly sends me letters promising a sign on bonus if I come back. I have been thinkin about. What is it like there now. Do they still have the Meijers or any other local accounts. I think I could handle running local for them but not OTR again. Too many days sitting still and a fleet manager that drove me nuts.

Their web site "boasts" a 'Solo driver' will drive as many as 450 miles per day.
450 miles devided by 55 mph average= less than 8 1/4 hours. What am I to do with the other 3 hours the law allows me to drive? Tack it on to the 10 hours I'm required to sit? 8 hours driving 13 hours fart'n around? Yah.....sounds like a good deal to me. -
I have been with them for around 3 months on a dedicated account in FL and so far I can say I like them. knock on wood pay has been on time, dispatchers are cool. My Volvo is limited to 65 and when loaded runs about 55-60 up hills. I can not say how thier OTR guys are doing, but their dedicated runs are pretty good.

The other 3+ hours a day are lost due to sitting at docks.
Also they want you to run 8.5 hours a day, so you never run out of hours lol.
They most likely will not even dispatch for more miles a day than that. -
55 or 60 up in fla???? Sure would hate that on 70 in CO. or on black mtn in nc for that matter lol
