The accent you refer to in movie Fargo is common to Minnesota. Swede and Finn origins same as many in my ‘hood just north of the MN border
Good luck with job, good to see a positive post about employer
2400 miles weekly not too overwhelmingLDYTRUCKER and TB John Thank this. -
Yes S&S was in our top 3. I'm a new CDL holder also looking for my first job. S&S has been great to me. They told us 6 weeks training, doggie and wife OK after solo, They have incab cameras which I'm mixed about. Put my ap in Tuesday. They didn't call me back so I just called and he was real nice but said his insurance would go up too much from an accident I had 2.5 yrs ago. Only ticket in my life was a failure to yield to a guy trying to run the light before it changed. He said to call him back in 6 months when that was off my record. Can't believe that #### accident is gonna screw me up with the good companies. Hope I can get something, cuz I'm working out my notice at my job.
Need4Speed Thanks this. -
I m looking forward to going to Grand Forks in a couple of weeks. S and S personnel have been very professional towards me. Not very often you will here a recruiter offer to pick you up in Canada(Winnipeg) to come to Orientation. Winnipeg is twice as cheap to fly there versus Grand Forks
Bluedew, Need4Speed and LDYTRUCKER Thank this. -
That would explain the accents. I couldnt ever place my finger on it!
I've been averaging 3500 a week or so. The lowest I've had is 1900 to come home for my home time. I've sat at one receiver and got layover and detention pay for it, so I wasnt too upset. Gives a good break to rest while still looking forward to a paycheck. Constantly on the move, never sat more than 20 mins waiting for my next dispatch.
I'm still very happy with them! Even gave me an extra day of home time to take care of an appt I needed to do and already have me lined up for my next load out, no issues with the extra day at all and even apologized that the load out was only 1000 miles lol.Metallica88 and Just passing by Thank this. -
The in cab cameras dont bother me much. They dont point at the sleeper, just the drivers seat. I'm of the mindset though that if they want to spy, I hope they enjoy what I have to offer lol. If you watch the videos they post on Facebook, they NEVER post the in-cab reactions. All insurance purposes. If you dont have your cell phone in your hand nor are you asleep behind the wheel if you're in an accident, you're fine.
I know I'm a "new school steering wheel holder" according to a lot of old drivers here, and yes, I may back 20 times to make sure my truck and their trucks are safe, and I will abandon ship if I'm not a #### super trucker, and I am the least qualified to give advice, but here is what my advice is:
Get in with any #### company you can to get your miles. Take it slow. Your 6 months of experience may put you in a higher cpm bracket with a good company. But be very careful, do not EVER negotiate HOS. Dont risk it. I had a contract with a certain named mega, and I have proof of them saying I could not stop or I lose my load. NOT LEGAL. They are not going after me for my contract. This is YOUR CDL, your life, your future. Fuxk some of these haters. You do you, take it at your own pace, and go back in 6 months and apply for a company that will treat you like a human.
Dont give up. Deal with the crap for a few months, earn that pay, and move on until you're happy.JolliRoger, Metallica88 and Just passing by Thank this. -
Yeah I had a gut feeling that they were good people and I'd be happy there/ We'll see in 6 months where I'm at. Maybe reapplyLDYTRUCKER Thanks this.

I agree 100%. I'm not losing my new livelihood for anybody. That's why I didn't let any of the mega carriers do my schooling. I've heard horror stories and didn't want to be under contract with a bad place for a year. I found a really small school. Did the student permit myself. Had one-on-one time in the truck with my trainer and passed my test right off the bat and it cost me 1/5 of the roadmasters of the world. My school is paid for. I don't owe anybody anything and can give my all to the right employer. I've been very fortunate. Have 2 offers from the biggies and working with several other smaller options. I need to get on the road pretty quick because my 2 weeks notice is over this Friday and I need the paycheck.. I'm hoping that I can get a position with one of the smaller ones and hopefully be happy and healthy for years with them but if I have to get my miles with a mega carrier, I'll do what I need to and then find a more permanent position when this accident is 3 years old. All I've got is time and a dream
Just passing by, Bluedew and LDYTRUCKER Thank this.
