I think you're best bet would be Magnum. They're all over your neck of the woods. You could do the LTD OTR gig, or the LTL Regional gig, with very liberal hometime. Nice 579's fully loaded, rider/pets, easy dispatch that leaves you alone, and you can pick your own outbound load from what's available. Only downside (if it matters to you) is they're stuck at 64mph, may be 65 now. But other than that, they're a pretty good outfit to work for. Also, they don't do anything in the desert southwest or Commiefornia (no NM, AZ, CA, or NV) and the closest they get to NYC is Elizabeth NJ (there's also some other NJ freight, but it's not very common, and it's not terrible).

Magnum would not hire me due to my having had too many places of employment over X amount of time even though most of the "extra" jobs I have had were doing seasonal or temporary work, some I had lost due to a company's financial strain during covid in which they terminated the employment of several people through no fault of the employee(s). Perhaps I should just not list those things on future applications?
As far as reefer companies I am down to S&S, WEL, Marten, and Leonard's Express. -
You’d be hard pressed getting a Volvo 99% chance you’d be in a Freightliner. We had a lot of issues with Wallwork and haven’t bought any Kenworth the last 2 years. Also had issues with RDO ordered 10 last year only ended up receiving 5 and heard we will only get 3 more if any this year. We were told we’d get good service if we started buying Volvo however there’s been many issues with getting them repaired not sure if the relationship is broken but definitely strained. All Volvo’s have been assigned and people with seniority in line if we do get anymore of them. We don’t do a lot of Reefer either.

I keep hearing the same story from several different companies that have used Volvo in the past and are refusing to now, to include my current company and former company. I like the Volvo VNL but the reputation of the company and service providers has gone down the toilet in recent years.dwells40 Thanks this.
