so...are you implying that its not ok to stop behind the trucks, right next to the building, and quickly do your business? ya, good thing I heard that now!

if your split sleeper is the 8/2 split, then yes...lol. but I don't see myself, until i know exactly how to use it and when to use it, ever using it. thats where lack of experience comes into play.

Probably get flamed for this but I have driven well over my hours in bad weather to get to a safe parking place and honestly didnt think twice about doing it. This memorable night it started snowing so bad i couldnt see jack squat and ran with my steer tire on the rumble strip just to know i was still on the road. This was in canada and no shoulder for ALONG way, I just tooled along with the steer on the rumble strip and if it stopped rumbling i wiggled aound until i found it. HOS can be ###### in that situation, I am not worrying about hours when I cant stop anyway. Took me 4 hours to go about 20 miles and i was over my hours by at least 3 of those 4.

Document it on your log..some sort of explanation, just so inquiring minds can get the 411.

Ive read over and over I was sitting at my shipper and ran out of hours.

now mind you when I ran I used binder logs so I never had a problem with
any hours and was fortunate enough to not be checked before my logs caught
    up with me.

But would it not make sense to go into sleeper mode rather then on duty not driving
for you guys with the computer. why would you waste your hours like that? just wondering

Maybe because the time in the sleeper did not make a big enough entry to get them off the 14 hour window.

Ive seen post's that people said I sat a the shipper all day and then when it was time to run I was out of hours. Have you never seen a post like that? I was just wondering why you would leave yourself on duty for any reason while sitting or unloading. I mean you never know right?

edit: of course you have to give 15min at ship/rec but other then that why

Most ran out of their 14 hour window.
