Any business is somewhat accountable for knowingly allowing things to take place on their property. I registered a complaint at a TS a couple of weeks ago because a beer vendor was speeding (upshifting) in to make a delivery. They were aware of the problems and asked which vendor. This was just a few days after the driver was killed in Odessa, TX. A lot of TS we frequent are beginning to assign someone to the fuel islands during their busiest times.

Sorry to hear about this driver getting run over! Wishing him the best of luck!
I too am fed up with these drivers grabbin gears in the truck stops!! Slow down!! That extra few seconds is not going to matter in the truck stop parking lots!
Like most of you professionals, I'm a second or third gear cruiser in the parking lot. Maybe 4th if it's big, but no more than 8-10mph. It even irritates me when some clown is tailgating me in and out of the truck stops!!TRKRSHONEY, skibum_63 and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
Right.. like the pilot in denver with security at the entrance guiding all in
That still dosent stop some from not paying close attention after wards.
I crawl thru a truck stop behind the wheel and act as tho no one can see when walking thru. Many, not all, are on a hurry.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
it's the trcuk stop chain that owns the property they sit on, and should be PROACTIVE about safety .
As a home owner, i have to carry home owners insurance, just because somebody may get hurt walking on the part of the city owned/ built sidwalk, that runs my entire property line, be it 1 foot, or longer
The same should apply to truck stops. More so when they post on the rare occasion, a speed limit. And Drivers SHOULD KNOW BETTER not to rookie race in a area, where there is high pedestrain counts, ie: the PARKING LOT.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
As a matter of fact, i was in Knoxvill at the j a month ago, fueling, the truck naext lane over hadnt moved in 45 min, the fuel isalnd guy asked me if i knew anything about that truck, i said sorry , no i do not, it was here as i was waiting in line. With that, they guys reaches for his cell phone, and dials the # on the back of the trailer, and calls the springfield ,mo based carrier, to report that thier truck had been on the islan for 45 min, and no one was responding to the in store pages. 10 min later, a guys come rnning out of the store and jumps in his truck and leaves. Hair still wet from the shower.
So yes at least one chain is trying to be proactive in getting trucks to move forward, after fueling.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
I don't get the whole park on fuel island to get shower thing. I never even thought about doing it.

Accidents happen. Its sad and unfortunate but we dont need more security or more laws. We dont need more training or more rules, or lines painted so we can be treated like cattle. We need more common sense.
ralph, 58Skylane and formertaxidriver Thank this. -
What we need is common sense and personal accountability, not much of either anymore.
Jersey John, okcowgirl97, TRKRSHONEY and 2 others Thank this. -
,I took a shower the other day (really) and was walking past the fuel pumps with my shower bag and this driver at the pump was really wanting the truck in front of him to move, I gave him the I'm sorry shrug and wave and walked to the drivers door on the truck in front of him, fumbled for my keys and walked to my truck in the parking lot snickering.
\
AND slow down and maybe stop if you're going to drive thru the fuel isles to park for a minute.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
i have had MANY trucks PASS me in the parking lot, because they thought i was going too slow.....
you see it all the time, the speed racers, the driver walking across the lot texting...bad MIX.....
also...if you are walking right in front or right behind a truck...dont ASSUME they are not about to move....i never walk right behind or right in front of a truck..when i fuel i make sure i walk out in front, enough so that i can see if the driver is in the seat etc...many times had ppl walk right IN front of our hood...(389)...and you CANT see them....check, check and re check before you move....slow the heck down
how awful..that poor man....TRKRSHONEY, NWMAXI and 58Skylane Thank this.
