For anyone having trouble seeing over the hood, get better blindside mirrors - the ones that look like bug eyes(very rounded).
The way I have mine setup are in such a way that they let me see the entire front of the truck, a 2005 Intl 9400. FOV is wide enough around to the point that I can see something in front of the bumper up to 1.5 ft. At night, I can see if a headlight, turn signal, or ID lights are burnt out without leaving the cab. I have the ones with the single curvy arm since the straight arm type put the mirrors too low.
Also, the tripod type mirrors look funky and probably reduce mpg.

It was an accident, caused by both people not paying attention
why do we want MORE regulation? we are the first ones to complain about government interference in our lives and all it takes is one accident for everyone to complain about how we need more government oversight, monitoring and management.
we are grown men, we are free men, we are supposed to be responsible men, lets take that responsibility seriously
and accidents will always happen, you cant regulate against all accidents -
I drive a Pete 387. I set my hood mirror up and out. I can still see it with my seat slammed to the floor. I can see my off tracking around right turns. I can also see everything in front of my truck, including the bugs in my grille. That, and I look before I roll.
