Not that I am aware of, as long as your book is current to your last change of duty status. So at 2200 you start driving from Miami, Fl and you run until 0700. The next entry will be at 0700 where ever you stop at.

Well if it was passenger carrying, it would be 8 hrs OOS.

I'm thinking that the DOT officer wanted to give the driver a slap on the wrist without costing him any money. There was no citation (ticket) given, so no fine to the driver. OTOH 8 hrs of shut down probably caused enough grief and worry to get the driver to watch his logging. It's also possible that the driver looked fatigued and the DOT officer wanted to make sure the driver got a nap, but didn't want to put the driver OOS for it.

    Just my 2cents worth.

He had a Dually truck with a load of Mexicans in the back...the officer didn't want to deal with immigration so he made them sit for 8 hours before the sun came up...and by coincidence the officers duty shift ended at the 7 hour point!

How's that for tying up all the loose ends?

but not for fatigue. I would not want a fatique OOS on my records as I think a violation like that would dog you badly in court.

but this is just Sunday evening speculation.:biggrin_25525:
