Keep in mind I know I'm at the bottom of the totem pole with the local guys and I'm gonna have to work my ### off and put in the years to get seniority to get the wanted runs. Hard work and and getting pay that's owed to me is the only suffering I'll be doing.

I gotta agree with you, and TripleSober we've talked about this why "suffer" through a job that is not good for your situation all the way around just to get the one you won't. I plan on taking your advice from earlier and just doing the driving school and applying. Maybe I'll get blessed like you did.

anyone has pay scale for local city driver in ellenwood ga? atlanta terminal? applied for a m-f position
-
They was starting at 20.22 an hr or some where close and then a raise every six months up to 22 hr
-
You don't have to go otr. I wish I knew that coming out of school. I would've done things alot differently. I'm at a starter company now that is mostly a daycab operation, home every night unless something happens. There are local companies in every city.
Desert T, use some of that hard work ethic you say you have and pound the pavement looking for these companies. Not just ltl. Cement, gravel, all the small time natural gas companies in town, any paper company in town, any type of mill or big outfit is bound to have a city spotter. You got a greyhound bus station in town? -
Conway freight hires right out of school. Apply on line. Conway truckload is not the same.
Remember you will have no life. Get all the crap and sucky stuff. The senior drivers get the gravy. -
I have a interview with Saia next week. Does anybody know the hiring process for a local city driver? Is it hard to get in the door?
-
When I did the interview they offered me the job. Just a basic interview asking my experience and if I can deal with customers. Then they just setup a road test and do your physical. I had another job call me before I took the road test so I declined the position cause I felt there was not much OT at Saia in this area. So I went with a job I knew there would be.
-
This was a local city driver position. Looking at your location being in Ga heard there is alot of work. For me in this area freight isnt always booming so It might be alot of OT in your area.

FedEx here in Chicago wants a year's experience before they will hire you.
