Alot of Linehaul gigs are night with senior guys taking days. My terminal is almost all nights. There's only a few days lowest guy is 14-15yrs. Other terminals in my company have alot more days then us.

I actually prefer nights over days... guess its just getting used to it. It takes me a while to re-adjust to days, but if I work nights for whatever reason Im back on in a day. Majority of our runs are at night, at least our bid start times, there are a few guys who start at like 7am, I start at 7am on sundays and work till 5 trips are made. SO it can go by fast and have a nice long weekend, or I can work sunday day, then be off monday day and go in at night... THATs not cool when that happens

Most of our senior guys pick nights over days. Lots of them pick the 600+ mile turns also. I think they just pick the big mile runs because they don't want nobody else having them. I think the longer you've been at a company, the shorter run would be best but only few senior guys pick a short run. That's fine with me because they always have plenty short runs to pick from.

When I top out and get some bills paid off on the way, I would rather have a short run bid when topped out. Our senior guys got the big runs 550-600+. I usaully get a 500+ mile run lay down 3 times a week. They can have all that big run stuff.

On my bid I do multiple short runs, normally average 350-550 a night. For some reason our top three guys do a layover run bid that's only 380 miles. Actually ALL the senior guys want the layovers, thought they would want one of the long run turns

They probably take it cause they want layover pay and get away from the wife lol. A lil feeling of Otr too. It's in a drivers blood. I feel like going Otr all the time but look at the wages and lack of gyms on the road and change my mind. Got really out of shape in 5yrs bad for my health. Don't want to put that 60lbs back on, would DQ me from driving.

yea I hear you, I lost about 50 pounds in the past 3 years, I that was my highest I was. Still need to lose more but at least I can workout at home or if I do a layover. I am doing insanity. Actually on a scheduled layover we dont get paid until after 12 hours, and our boss can normally will make you take empties to another terminal to do one of their trailers. If its an unscheduled layover then your paid for the 10 hours. The Montreal run is where you make A LOT of layover pay, heard guys up for up to 36 hours, I tired getting it before moving up here, this way I would save gas.

Good job on the weight loss. Yeah I got another 20 I want to get down. Yeah not working out for 5 yrs drove me insane. We don't get extended lay til 14hrs. Pretty much sucks. You guys seem to have it better with the layover pay.

it probly wasnt always like that, took time to get it im sure. I only gained the weight when I was working nights in a restaurant that all I did was eat. Once I got my first full time job at FDX ground is when I lost the weight, as I did the enitre mall as my route.

I will say with my bid, constantly hooking and dropping it does help out a lil bit, especially with that dolley

Yeah I couldn't work at a restaurant I'd be 300lbs. I started at US Foods coming off the road at 33. I was out of shape bad. The other drivers thought I wouldnt last a week cause Otr guys are notorious to quit plus I was big. But I wanted to be home and lose weight so pretty much I was determined. Lost 40lb at foodservice then went LTL linehaul Gained 10lbs here at first then dropped 30lbs amazingly with a inactive job. Just hitting the gym before I leave for work, bring a two days of good food in a big cooler on my layover can put next days in the fridge at the hotel when I get there. So I'm not stopping getting that greasy food plus I get back faster. I just buy water at the truckstops or maybe a small coffee. It's took me 2 yrs to drop this 60lbs going up and down. Little progress is progress dropping weight fast is a bunch of BS it's hard work.
