Gasp!!!
I'm sitting at the Pilot on I12 in Hammond, LA, waiting for a load. I woke up from a 3 hour nap and went scrounging for lunch. In the cooler section, they had premade salads and small cups of cut fruit. I grabbed a chicken Caesar salad and a cup of pineapple.
Cost me $9.75. And people wonder why drivers are fat. This is Pilot- home of 2 for $2 hotdogs, 2 for $2 chips, 2 for $2 candy bars, 2 for $2 sodas. Why not 2 for $2 fruit cups? I would have spent less on salad and fruit at a fast food joint.
Grrrrrrrrr
salad and fruit: and the total is....

####! That is a major rip-off. You could have had a chicken caesar salad for less than that at the Olive Garden!

I didn't realize just how badly truckers get ripped off until a few months ago. I live about 3 miles from a Pilot and there is a Flying J across the street. I go to the Pilot for gas as sometimes it's cheaper than at the QT. Inside the Pilot in addition to the usual 2fer stuff is a Wendy's and a Subway. I usually go to the Subway over in Mirror Lake; but since I was there anyway for gas I figured I'd kill 2 birds with one stone and get my sandwich there. WRONG! My usual, the 12",'Feast' was $13.89!
It's only $8.49 at the The Subway in town. What's up with the $5 extra?

If anybody ever travels I-20 west in Georgia and have a hankering for Subway, get off at exit 26 and make a right turn. It's in the strip mall with the Publix. If you don't mind paying extra go to exit 19 make a right and go to the one inside the Pilot.
Oh yeah, there's a new chinese restaurant across from the Flying J at exit 19 on I-20 and they are really good. The food is always fresh tasting no matter what day of the week it is. There's also a little mom and pop ice cream parlor in the same strip mall.HFC Thanks this. -
I think they figure we're a captive audience, since we can't just pull an 18 wheeler in anywhere and park it, so they can charge whatever they want. And, in a way, they're right. But as long as there are still a few Walmart's allowing us to park to shop, I'll be keeping groceries in my truck.
HFC Thanks this.
