I wouldn't want to get into details but I can tell you that after going thru 3 companies within last 3 months I am going back to the very first company I started my career with as my former boss came to his senses after going thru few new drivers and decided to give me what I wanted 3 months ago.
TBonze Thanks this. -

If you are 15 minutes late - you are late, period.
And if I wait 7 or 8 hours to get loaded or unloaded I can get detention pay.
I do have self respect, sir.
Maybe that is why I seem to plan things better than you to avoid much of that.
Those people are not being paid to care about our personal problems. If we can't park it at a shipper/receiver it really is not their problem. It is, however, ours. We should never 'assume'.
That is why I NEVER plan to do that, and I plan my trips with better stopping points in mind.
If that means a few less miles per week, so be it.
At least I won't be caught in that situation.
Doesn't mean I am being treated like a dog.
It does mean that I plan things out before ever accepting a load so I don't get into that position.AZTracefan and scottlav46 Thank this. -
Oh come on man,you know what typo is?it never happend to you?anybody with 2 brain cells would have been able to figure i meant "expected".

Yes you get detention pay after what? 2 or 3 hours?how much is your detention?as for 15 minutes being late "period" ,yeah true but come on dude.you have appointment at say 10 am you at the security point 9.55 am ,4 trucks in front of you ,at 10.30 am you made it to shipping office where they are telling you that you are half an hour late and they will take 8 hours to unload you!you are telling me this is fair???
-
Sure I did.
That was planned as well, and why it was the first point.
My main point is, never take a load that has too many variables.
Swift does not allow much time on a load. The Plus-1 program tries to plan us to the very minute.
If you accept it as such it will burn you more times than not.
I seldom accept a load without first adding some time to it.
I plan my loads around my own needs. And those needs include places to park along the way.
And I will never plan to park at a shipper/receiver if I can help it. Too many variables.
I add time to my 10 for a shower, to do laundry or anything else.
I refuse to be rushed in this job, because that can cause me to make mistakes.
And as we all know, one mistake can end the career.JOHNQPUBLIC, mosstrap, TBonze and 2 others Thank this.
