Yah I appreciate the advice. I actually didn't drive for a year after getting my cdl because I didn't want to do OTR. I just didn't realize all these places posting "WE NEED Drivers" signs really meant drivers with 1-2 years experience minimum. I have been getting misled a lot during this swift thing, so I made this post. If they pay over 35k I guess it's survivable for a year, but if it's less it definitely doesn't seem worth it with all the downsides of OTR.

2000 to 3000 miles a week is normal. On weeks you take home time you may get 1000 to 1500 miles.
Anyone claim they run higher than 3000 a week must still have paper logs and cheat. -
You can easily run 3500 on elogs. Many drivers do it consistently. I average 700 miles a day.Sneakerfix Thanks this.

700 miles / 9 hrs = 77 mph.
700 / 11 hrs = 63 mph, but you can only run 70 hrs every 8 days,
70 hrs / 8 days = 8.75 hrs a day.
I know I'm new to this, but 700 a day average without doing a 34 hr reset or speeding like crazy seems impossible -
At 70 you can run on recap...
-
I run 78 mph across Kansas. I work 4 days a week so I do get a reset though. Drive my 11 out every day otherwise.
In a Swift truck that kind of running is impossible. 62 mph just doesn't work. -
It is. No way you can drive 700 a day with no restart. You're not counting your on duty time (pre trip, fuel, unload etc) which is probably about an hour a day. Plus you're not going to drive 63 all the time with traffic, state routes, city driving etc. 700 a day would be 4900 miles a week, not going to happen. You can do 3000 relatively easy and 3400-3600 with good loads and watching your log.

Back when I had a 68 mph truck and was on paper logs I could cheat and log close to 680 miles. But that was only when I didnt have to pick up or deliver a load. I really cant see anyone using elogs doing 700 daily when they pick up and deliver, its impossible now.JOHNQPUBLIC Thanks this.

I just did 690 miles from Gretna NE to Lansing MI.Started at Pilot in Gretna 10.30 am got to Pilot Lansing 9.45pm.all NE and IA really bad weather and low visibility but I was flying 75 mph but then Chicagoland and MI with their stupid truck speed limits which i rather obeyed so I guess i could do it even faster if speed limits allowed. Of course I was already loaded.

And I did 30 minutes break, traffic in IA and NE was light though so I could go fast safely.not a single truck passed me thru IA and NE.ain't that cool?
