Here's the company that he worked for.
Personally, if I was a customer of this owner's, I think I'd be looking for another transportation company in a pretty big hurry.

Henry B. Wainer is president and owner of Sid Wainer & Son Specialty Produce and Specialty Foods. Henry is known worldwide for his leadership in food safety and his international efforts to support farmers. The company was started in 1914 by his grandfather, Henry Wainer, on the historic cobblestone streets of New Bedford, MA. His grandfather was known for sourcing products from the South Coast of New England and distributing them to the restaurants and stores in his region. Those were the days of horse and buggy.

While I am not condoning what his employer did at all, look at the other side of this. Thanks to all the evil lawyers in the world, this employer has to worry about lawsuits. Once the employee acts like a hero more than once, it could be argued that his employer condones such activities. If he is hurt or killed while being a hero, the employer is then sued for a huge amount and is either bankrupted or can no longer find worker's comp insurance. This firing might not have anything to do with milking the timeclock, but everything to do with avoiding a lawsuit.

Ok, then think about it this way. His boss is on his way to work, the same employee witnesses the boss being carjacked, but has an opportunity to stop if from happening. The employee does not assist, because its on company time. You think his boss will fire him for NOT helping??? I'm sure he would. This boss has not conscience, period. Selfish and greedy.Cybergal Thanks this.

I can see it both ways, ladies. But all I can this is, if it was me in those situations, I couldn't (with a clear conscious) just sit there and watch the events unfold.
bullhaulerswife and woodstock36 Thank this. -
That is just awfull Well there no different than any other employer, all about the bottom line. What kind of example for people is this!!!

I could loose my nursing license, if I am seen driving by an accident, and not stopping to help!!
American only truck crazy girl, cause nothing else will do!!!!!!!
18wheeldumptrucker and Cybergal Thank this. -

Here's mine, if you want copy and paste.
Dear Henry B. Wainer,
I read the newspaper report in the NEW YORK POST concerning your former employee John Acheson.
I, as do many Americans feel that John's actions should be Commended not condemned, if more people were more civic-minded the world on a whole would be a better place to live.
In closing, I wish you would please take the time to re-think the firing of Mr.Acheson, the world needs more John Acheson's.
Thank you for your time.
This was from one of the Biker Forums I visit........... -
I am really suprised by some of the responses here and for what seems like the lack of concern..........Especially for a fellow trucker............I posted this on a biker web site and there are at least 15 people in 1 day who are writing or said they are writing the company expressing their concern. Possibly some here see him as competition and now he is out of the way.............I don't know..............And I don't know why this particular incident bothered me so much............especially with all of the other f#%*!d up things going on in the world.........
No good deed shall go unpunished!!!!!!!!!! -
Lack of concern? I see everyone upset at how this trucker was treated and everyone upset at the spineless employer.

If I had to worry about lawsuits all the time I wouldn't leave the house. Everyone needs to understand that we will all be judged on our actions one day. Which part would you want to defend? Why you stopped to help or why you didn't?59halfstep, 18wheeldumptrucker and leannamarie Thank this.
