I'm not talking about searching for threads related to specific topics - I'm talking about when I come in here to browse through all the threads. I haven't taken the CDL plunge yet and so I like to read through threads that might be pertinent to me and skip the others. I would assume that the experienced guys who take time to stop in to answer questions from n00bs find that annoying as well but I could be wrong.

If it's something you could have found by doing a simple search on the net then it seems like you not doing enough work. I don't mind answering and helping as long as I don't get the same question a couple of postings later.

BP/ARCO just sold all their operations except the stores in southern CA, AZ, and NV. I'm waiting to hear what will happen to all those drivers. ARCO used to be one of the top 10 companies to work for in the U.S. That includes all type of employment. They were also the 7th largest oil company in the world with their operation was only on the west coast. Now they've been sold out so the CEO's and other board members could get rich. I know when BP took other the drivers lost soma pay and benefits as well. Now they won't be able to work for BP/ARCO at all unless there's an opening in the pacific north west.

Ummm... Let's try this again: I don't use the search function because I am not looking for anything specific. I BROWSE through the forum - that means glancing at thread titles for ones that look like they will be of interest to me to read. Threads titled simply "Help" and "Question" don't help that cause.

“What company is best” and other questions like that are very subjective and no one can really give anyone a definitive answer.

Most starter companies are very large so even at one point in time peoples experiences will be very different due to different trainers, fleet managers and so on. Add to that the fact that what is a good fit for one person is not necessarily good for another, that company policies are always changing, that no one here has worked for every one of them, and you can see how posts like that get ignored.

You just need to do a lot of reading, even the threads titled simply "Help" and "Question" and come to your own conclusions.

“What company is best” is a moving target and not the same target for every person.

Yep, arco in socal was on my short list of dream companies to work for. There is a big question mark on the future of company drivers though. Chevron got rid of theirs a couple of years ago. As for mine, I can see myself transferring to a different division in a few years. Hopefully my seniority will get me a good gig.

Sorry, my point was directed at simple things like "what school should I go to". A simple search on the net will show you there's three different types of schools and what to look for. So if I address that question the poster will know what I'm saying about so many hours training in the truck and company paid school and so forth. There's a lot of information out there that can prepare you for asking specific questions or even general questions where you'll have an understanding what most of us are talking about. You're a rarity and looking for general information and not working or even going to school. That's ok but just remember there's some new drivers out there that are making life changing decisions that we like to help as much as possible.

Ummm, if you're tired of the same questions why not skip the thread? Nobody is forcing anyone here to open any of the threads! There's my 2 cents.
