SAP

I recently got my CDL A back in January, starting work doing CDL B driving for a company few months ago and recently was involved in a incident where my truck struck a tree branch and fell onto 2 cars doing some damage. Nobody was injured and no citation was issued, cops didnt even show up. Fire department came to remove tree branch and told me im good leave. I had to go for post accident drug testing and it came back positive for THC. I havent been smoking and guess it was still detectable in my system, so I ended up getting terminated from my job and now have a SAP on my clearinghouse record. Im really beating myself up over this because im still new to CDL driving and dont want to mess up my chances for a future with it. Im currently in the process of completing my SAP. My question is, will it be hard for me to find another job after completing the RTD? I have no problem kicking weed for good and really dont want to mess up my future in truck driving, especially since I dont have any experience with class A driving. I wouldnt mind being with class B driving for a bit since I have the experience. Does anyone know of any companies in Long Island/5 boroughs that will hire drivers with SAP on their record? Any information about this will be greatly appreciated.

 

Also if any of this helps, my manager didnt think I should be terminated and tried to fight to keep me on but it was corporates decision to let me go. He said to use him as a reference when going for another job and he will put in a good word. Will this help my chances since having a SAP on record?

Yea, im seeing quite a few posts on it. Now I know I made a very stupid decision of smoking prior to this incident happening and I ended up paying the price and facing the consequences. I learned from my mistakes and no to never play around like that again. I just hope any future employer is willing to give me a second chance to move foward with my career in truck driving since it is something I really enjoy doing and am passionate about.
