I did try the old version of the satellite dish and receiver thing about 15 years ago when it was popular then. You used to see a lot of trucks with a piece of PVC pipe strapped to a side mirror, haha. But with the huge power drain from the old big box analog t.v.s and that receiver I burned up 3 alternators and had to replace a complete set of batteries on the truck I was driving. Now I know that good batteries are a most, if running an inverter with a high demand for electricity.
I am just toying with the idea of a satellite system, since I seen it in a TA, and I am sure now its going to be showing up in a lot of other truckstops. It just gets so old, always trying to find some movie in a Walmart movie bin that is worth paying the $5 for and then having another movie in the truck that has already been seen.
But I was wondering now, many movies I could buy for that same $139 a month, that Dish charges? haha.
I just get annoyed with whatever local broadcast t.v. and the sometimes hassles of passing trucks disrupting the signal, or being in a place with almost no local t.v. at all.
Oh well.....
thanx,,

For $139 a month, just upgrade your data plan. Get a smart tv and run Netflix through your WiFi.

If it was $139 a month I wouldn't have it either, but at 60 its well worth it to me, I have cable at home because I live too far in the sticks and cant use satellite tv in the summer when the leaves are on the trees, I wish I had DISH at the house, then the truck would only be $10 a month.

I had the tailgater. in less than 1.5 years it quit the 2 times king controls would not warranty it ,due to have it mounted on my truck with their mounts. the first time I sent to them it cost me $5.96 to send it to them using fed-ex . when they returned it they used fed ex an charged me $50.00 for shipping. plus the price to fix it a grand total of $273.00. this time when I called they told me to send it to them they would fix it at my cost, I told them they go #### them shelf's. I ordered the wineguard pathway x1 dish will be here Tuesday . they have a 2 year warranty an tailgater has a 1 year warranty. wineguard told me I can mount it on my truck an they would warranty it an I would not have to buy their bracket like king controls require. I have dish at home so it cost me $7.00 a month for programing an I receive the same channels .

Recently (the last few months) they have increased the coverage area. I seldom am without a 4G LTE signal now.
And that deal with many major streaming services like Netflix is really great.
I can watch anything I want on Netflix with zero hit on my data allowance.
Netflix is the only one I use, but there are at least a dozen others.
If you work it right you can get 20GB of data for $40 per month.
It means swapping the SIM card in the hotspot device because each line is restricted to 5GB. I have four data only lines on our family plan, at $10 per month each.
When I get near max on one I simply swap it for another. -
