    I'm in a company truck.
Company installed Sat Dish, TV, and Inverter ours is 1500 Watt.
Should work with a 1000 Watt depending on how much Power the TV Draws.\
Just make sure the Inverter is installed properly.

The Tailgater and VuQube can adjust inside the little dome thing.
We do have a different system though.

A modern TV and satellite box will draw less than 300 watts. So yes, if that is all that is on your 1000 watt inverter then you have plenty to spare.

All satellite antenna work on what they call "line of site." So the southern sky view cannot be blocked for them to receive the signal.

The Dish "Pay-as-you-go" plan along with a Tailgater or Winegard or stationary dish will all work.

    markk Thanks this.

Check out the Winegard sat systems, dish will aim itself in less than 2 minutes just like a Qual Comm antenna. Forget that old pvc pipe thing...

Anybody using an on-the-move antenna with their DVR? What kind works well with a truck?

Both Winegard and King (Tailgater and Quest) work that way. Each has advantages and disadvantages, but both get on the signal in like 2 minutes automatically (when the vehicle is stopped.)

    For satellite while in-motion?

Only this one right now: Roadtrip

    or this one: Kingdome

Unfortunately they are both designed for flat roofs in terms of mounting, and most trucks don't have a flat roof. Although coincidentally we are installing one tomorrow on a flat roof truck.

They both work well in motion as long as you don't break the line-of-site with the southern sky. So in other words, they don't work so well in cities and do work well on the open road with no trees.

I just told Cox to shove it at my house and bought me a 20 buck antenna from Walmart . got 36 channels local . good enough since I can still record some favorite shows with my Tivo for OTA . got another antenna like it but a lot bulkier . going to stick it on a pole and use it in my truck for now to get the local channels . Should get more reception than that flat antenna I have which does work well but cost me 40 bucks .

I can watch anything on my home system (live or dvr) anytime I want
anything I can watch sitting in the living room I can watch 2,000 miles away in the truck. I also do the same thing when I sitting in a motel, I just take my tablet and the hdmi cord. btw you can do the same with your phone if it is has the hdmi out

I record the shows I want and watch then later when I can
i live in TN and right now i'm in GA, I just set it to record football tonight and i'll watch it in KY at 0600 tomorrow when I'm done driving

how much extra does this cost me ZERO DOLLARS....

That's great if you live in a decent size town.
Or if you are parked near a decent town.
At Home..We get 0 Channels with a Standard Antenna.
Many places I have parked the truck, I have not gotten many Channels either.

Good Option if you have decent Data Package or can get decent Wifi.
    Otherwise,..not so much.
