Just passed my 3 years with Pritchett Trucking this past Friday the 28th, so far so good, like any company there's going to be days where you want to hang it all up but I always come back for more. In a perfect world I'd like to see myself retiring from here, but hell I am only 27 so a lot can change between now and then.

I have been with my company 10 years in April. I run LTL linehaul, drive at night, don't touch the freight, drop and hook trailers every night, I am home every day and I have made more money every single year I have worked here, we've continued to get raises. This past year I grossed the most I ever have. I have only worked one weekend in that time and that was last superbowl Sunday because we had a bad snow storm the Friday night prior so they cancelled all of our runs, and they ran us all during the day the following Sunday. This place has some of the usual BS that every company has but for the money and home time (everyday), it's easy to put up with. They continue to pay for our family coverage for our health care, of course with maobama care (that's a whole another thread), that may soon end, we were grandfathered in for another year, so we don't know what is going to happen next year. They give us the option of adding an extra week to our vacation time, which we still get paid for because they split up the money we'd get paid (1/52 of previous year's gross) for each of our 3 weeks we would normally get for 10 years of service into 4 weeks. We get 2 weeks that we could turn into 3 for 2 years to 9 years service.
We have e-logs, we don't ever run up against HOS unless we hit bad weather, and even then, it has to be pretty bad to use up all of our hours. We also get updates on traffic conditions (if there are wrecks in our way) through the People Net system which is what our e-logs are on. Of course, that system is kind of like having big brother in the cab with you but, overall, it's an o.k. system. I only work about 50-55 hours per week average with winter weather occasionally bumping it up to 60 a week, it depends upon road conditions, since I only run on the intersttes and toll roads it is pretty rare to have to run 60 hours a week though. Our trucks are overall in pretty good shape, in fact the 2004 Sterling I'm driving now is in much better shape than the 2009 International they assigned me when it came in, that thing is just a lemon.
I don't see myself going anywhere anytime soon.xlsdraw Thanks this.
