Pistons are out. Liners, not so much. Tried pushing them out with a rubber coated hammer handle and a floor jack. Ended up just lifting the engine off the floor. Going to have to hunt around for a puller set. Suprised I had no cracked rings. I'm guessing the rust on #1 and #2 was because of the broken exhaust manifold bolts on those cylinders. Water probably got in when I washed it before I put it in the shop.

So this is insane! My mind is blown here! This is a photo @MartinFromBC sent me:
rollin coal, NightWind, Zeviander and 11 others Thank this. -
This is it for now. We'll be back at it again at Christmas! Get it the rest of the way apart and then go write a big cheque to Finning lol.
-
Sorry it was turned up pretty good Bruce. Pulled hard, but probably not good for it after all these years by the time you ended up buying it. It's all to easy to turn up a mechanical kitty. I don't have a single one in the yard not turned up a little bit. But in my younger days it was the more is better way of doing things. Engine, diffs, trans, and the rest were all rebuilt in 1995.

Don't sweat it. I was going to put new pistons, liners and bearings in regardless. I still have the original guts and axles out of both diffs. Housings and suspension are long gone. The double frame at the back was so rust jacked it spread the lower flange about 1.5 inches apart. It actually broke a couple of the suspension hangers. I actually bought an 8 bag AG100 snip off a guy near Mission and was going to have that installed but it was too rough of shape. Got a good air slide 5th wheel and a few good crossmembers out of the deal though at least.

Walking beam and rubber block sure does pack a load though lol.
Nothing says rough ride though like the good old walking beam suspension
I'm just super happy to see the old girl getting some love, been a long time since i laid eyes on her, and always wondered what happened to my trusty old logging truck.
Bought it from KW in Kelowna in 1993, it was traded in just a day before I bought it. Hadn't even been detailed yet, I was keeping my eyes open for just such a truck, bought it less than 24 hours after it was traded in.rollin coal, Tug Toy, Feedman and 3 others Thank this. -
I was going to ask too if you painted the white diamonds around the bumper lights? The bumper on there is still the original one with the VIN stamped on it. Looks really old school with the diamonds on it. I think it'd look cool with some Peerless mudflaps on the front too.

That was not me.
The fine details beside the headlights was me. I'll take a better picture of the picture on my wall and text it over soon. -
Got your text. You're talking the pinstripe design on the side bug deflectors on the hood? Those are faint but still there. The top bug deflector was gone when I got it.
Tug Toy, spsauerland and wore out Thank this.
