Ran a tap through most of the threaded holes in the block. Outta time again so we'll pick it up again in a few more weeks.

When building projects my rule was something every day, even if its only 20 minutes it all adds up. Occasionally the 20 minutes turns into hours. Projects are time consuming. Winters are long and cold.

Problem is I live quite a distance away from the truck so I only get a couple days every month or so to work on it. Usually give it a good 4-8 hours every time I'm there though.

Ya know doing it yourself is a satisfying thing especially in those circumstances. Anything you need holla who knows I might have one got several A models. If I got it its yours if you pay the freight. I like the way this one is headed

    Appreciate that Wore!

Quick question: If I were to get the head and block decked to true them up, how would I compensate for the few thousandths I would lose by bringing the top of the block closer to the crank? Obviously it would increase the compression ratio slightly if not compensated for. I only noticed 1 spacer plate P/N while browsing through SIS. I wasn't looking too hard though, just methodically looking through and getting a parts list together so I can get a quote in a few weeks.

    BigBob410 and Feedman Thank this.

A thicker plate will only lower liner protrusion numbers.

Dont over think .005 off the top

To my knowledge the only other plate offered is .003 thinner. Stock is .338 and the cheater is .335.

Factory spec for 3406/C15/C18 deck height from center of crank centerline to deck is 16.750" plus or minus 0.006". Minium height after trueing deck is 16.733". This straight from SIS/ salvage and reuse guidelines. Just enough to make it flat!

Sorry for the lack of progress folks. Tied up with so many other things at the moment. Good news is all my tools are at home now so I have a better selection to work with than what I had before.

NightWind, BigBob410, KB3MMX and 7 others Thank this.

Don't you need your tools at work in the shop?

BigBob410, Feedman and IH Truck Guy Thank this.
