The Comanche were the last of the AMC/Jeep design. Most of the factory evolutions on mine where done while Jeep was a mostly separate unit of Chrysler.
Still an accumulation of parts from all over the globe but those parts work well together.
Mine is the 4 liter 6 -- derived from the old bullet proof AMC 6. Just about ready to rebuild it as it has over 300k miles on it.
And @misterG It's a 91 short wheelbase 4x4, 6 with the 5 speed. Spent most of it's life in Cali. Got it to do the rock crawling thing but ended up liking the truck too much as a daily driver.

Oh my. Noice....
Makes that caddy 48 era v8 look like a soviet ignot of aluminim with bad machining.AModelCat Thanks this. -
Looking at my dash. Wondering if powder coat would be better than paint? I've got a few holes to fill in for where the radio bracket was mounted and I'm turfing the 3 brake valves for an MV3 dash valve. Might fill in the patched areas better than paint?
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Power coat properly done is nice. Also a very tough finish.AModelCat, Bean Jr. and spsauerland Thank this.

Just getting caught back up on this thread after a while away.
Man, how freaking awesome is it that a previous owner found you restoring his old ride? That's awesome!
Also, that kitty painted up white looks Beautiful!!
As far as powder coating goes, I'd say that if you've got a shop that does good work in your area, go ahead and mock it up with everything you might want on / in the dash so you won't be needing to change everything and go for it.
A good powder coating outfit can do wonders!
Definitely plan on having a lot of interior parts coated when I finally get around to my resto-mod. But I'm also wanting to do a mix of a retro dash, with a hint of modern, some style of the mid to late 90's easy reach box. That's a long ways off though so I've got time to figure it out.Isafarmboy and AModelCat Thank this. -
I'm hoping to get out to his place one of these days this summer. He lives a few hours away from where the truck sits. Unfortunately its a long ways off my normal path. He seems quite thrilled to see his first truck coming back to life though.IH Truck Guy and Isafarmboy Thank this.

I'd read that you had a thread going on this thing...but couldn't figure out where. Count on me checking in every now an then. We had an old 78 that we restored and drove the crap out of doing all the dirty work on the farm...was a shame now that I think about it. Had the frame break off on the drivers side right in front of the cab. Was a weird spot for it to break but...

Right at the spring hanger? They decided it'd be a great idea to drill 2 holes in the frame's lower flange to mount the hanger on these old W900A's.Isafarmboy Thanks this.

I'll like my 2003 Chevy van but you will have to pry my 180 thousand mile Nissan 4wd pathfinder out of my Dead hands.
Buddies neighbor has same year in Michigan of all places with 500 thousand all original drivetrain.
Motor just finally started getting the oil dark at a thousand miles after a oil change.Last edited: May 5, 2020
