You could be right.Only the driver and dispatcher knows what really happened. From what I gathered it sounds like this has been a bitter relationship for awhile between the 2.

tha's my story and i'm sticking to it type of thing, lol.mje Thanks this. -
So, you would want a non-employee operating one of your trucks on a public thoroughfare? The driver messed up and he paid for it. By notifying the employer he was done he quit and it was in the employer's best interest to get him out of the truck immediately as he no longer has an "interest" in being employed there.
I always maintain that you quit when you're @ a terminal (preferrably home terminal) and this is why I maintain this.coolcat Thanks this. -
A wise old man once said "there are usually 3 sides to every story, my side, your side and the truth which is usually somewhere in the middle"
When a driver decides to sever employment, company is obligated to get him back to home terminal. Driver has an obligation to give company a reasonable amount of time to arrange that return. Sounds like very little communication towards a happy ending. Adults behaving badlyTreefork Thanks this. -
I'd love to see that "rule book". Is that from a particular state of is it a Federal rule?skibum_63 Thanks this.

prolly didn't want to ride the bus...it would have been a lot easier to just ride the bus, better than a night in jail.
-
I was thinking the same thing.
"I quit. And BTW, I'm taking your truck and trailer back to GA"
Sorry bud, doesn't work like that. You just found out the hard way that you drop the truck where the company wants you too. -
Im sure he quit OTR and said he was deadheading it home at his leisure
-
And all of this @ the carrier's expense...so they told the driver to park the truck and get out! Just another STD.
-
I suspect it's not a law anywhere. That's why I said it's an obligation. I also said obligated to get him back to his home terminal. Could be on a bus, with another driver or however but it's certainly a fair way to treat an employee.
