did three trips last week, pulled about 2400 miles, (deadhead miles still are killing me)... made about $1100 after fuel and truck payment and expenditures.
met a girl... (you can guess what is about to happen next)....lol.
as of tomorrow, I am moving from OTR to SE Regional out of Atlanta. The main differences are that it is a percentage pay instead of per mile pay. (will update you when I have a few weeks built up.)
why regional? more frequency of time in Alabama. After 6 months OTR, I am itching for alittle more hometime (as lease I can take it whenever I want, but once you request time off, you get limited miles that week because they try to keep you in the general area you want time off in.
I dont mind short hometime... (2-3 days)... I prefer 1-3 days at a time every 2-3 weeks rather than 5-6 days every 6 weeks. regional will assist in this.
Truck went into the shop today, I am requesting my ECM be replaced to fix the cruise control, and I am asking for an overhead tuneup.
Surprisingly, the shop did a good job with the Turbo unit last time. hoping that after the overhead I can get my normal (6 mpg loaded) backrolltide88, 123456, Zoltan1a and 2 others Thank this. -
Romans612 where does KLLM run regional. I am starting school soon and trying to find my first company. I am out of Las Vegas. Your posts have been awesome

update time
________________________________________________________
Been regional for a week. Still havent had first FULL pay week though, last week I went into the hole $900 because of a screw up switching to the percentage pay from per mile (if you decide to switch from OTR to regional, make sure you do all your paperwork in ATLANTA. I took a weekend at home during this time and so I had short runs OTR but they were paid %.
After some doing, the company DID convert them over this last week and I recooped about $300
I figured it out and if I had not been in the hole, I would have made over $900 on four runs. (after paying for my fuel and truck payment)
So far so good, will update again soon. Spending this weekend with my girlfriend!rolltide88, Gears and 123456 Thank this. -
Been reading RoadToad and Romans like they were Shakespeare!
Both of you, thanks a ton for all your informative posts. One thing I will opine is that both of you have had issues with the infamous SHOP, but have gotten things solved.
Now, granted, you could say it was because you were grouchy (lizzy Borden), but let's face it, unless you are really powerful and/or wealthy, most of the time you really cannot DO anything and all big companies know it. They can out lawyer you all day since they keep the "sharks" on retainer anyway and you have nothing on them. When all the talk about "...gonna kick some supervisor a--..." has died down, it amounts to a cup of spit. So what does this tell me?
It tells me that, like anywhere, there are incompetents and jerks. But, overall, KLLM is a quality company that does care for their drivers, at least in a business sense, provided you have done well for them in the past. And of course, being persistent enough to not give up or storm out and quit (yeah, that'll show 'em!). People, being what they are, often try and get away with a little bit if they can.
If they did not care to try and do right, it would be easier to replace you with some other number, albeit short sighted from a business sense. In the long term, good loyal drivers will make the company more money than "seat fillers".
Just my opinion, but it has made me even reconsider our chosen company (wife and I want to team drive as O/O's after we learn the ropes) to look closely at KLLM as well.
Again thanks for the real world posts. Love those type of posts vs. the garbled, ranting
posts that say nothing but schoolyard accusations about this or that company being so bad. Good luck to both of you! -
Roamans , Road Toad and everyone else did you guys see Mark Gressett,s message about fuel prices?11 cents # gal. Amongst other things they have opened up company drivers fuel cards.
