That is why freight is low and will continue to be low.

You're only 22? That explains a lot. You've got a lot to learn, grasshopper. Why are you calling your salesman? READ YOUR SALES CONTRACT! If you can't read it, and understand it, pay a lawyer to read it. If you want to call anyone at the dealer, it would be the finance guy anyway. If he says you have to stay leased to Werner, have him cite where it is in the contract. Let us know what happens. If it's not in the contract, it doesn't exist. October is around the corner, if you're going to apply to Landstar, you want to start now as it takes 1-2 months to get on with them.

Just read through my operating agreement and the papers related to the sale of the truck. I didn't find anything saying I was stuck to Werner. In the operating agreement it says it can be terminated but I have to give 30 days notice and the agreement will stay in full effect until the 30 days has come. Now as far as how the payments on the truck will work after I terminate the agreement, we'll I'll have to talk to the salesman, who's also in charge of my financing and see how that will go about.

Hopefully you can get on with other companies. I've had one guy in particular not be able to sign on because Quality Company (Celadon) won't allow it.

I was able to find out some more info. I can take the truck wherever I want but I'd have to pay off the loan on the truck through Werner. So I would have to get another loan against the truck to pay Werner for it. Of course that's basically the same as buying a truck anywhere else. So my best option would be to turn in the truck, quit Werner, and find a new truck to take to landstar. This loan on this truck right now is $74500 with 9.99% APR. It's a 2015 t680 in great shape with 250k on it. Worth it to pay it off via another financing option and take it to landstar or turn it in and restart?
QuietStorm Thanks this. -
Did you choose the specs on your truck? If not turn it in.
-
Not a bad price on the truck IMO. The interest rate is horrendous though. Do you have any factory warranty on the truck or engine? Cummins does sell a warranty for around $4500 for 2 years 200,000 miles but it does not cover emissions problems.Tb0n3 Thanks this.
-
Yeah it has factory warranty up to 500k miles or 5 years from manufacturer date. The interest rate is horrible which is why I'm taking 7 cpm a week out of my settlement to pay it off faster. But the interest rate will mean nothing if I take a loan out from somewhere else to pay the truck off to free it up. Then I'll have a new rate with the new loan.

You're definitely going to do MUCH better at Landstar for the record. If you can get sprung that is. But don't stress too much if you have to turn in the truck. Your situation almost has to get better. We'll get @Chinatown in here and call it a thread.
Roteck Thanks this.
