You drove an hr back to shp, was'nt there a scale closer you could have weighed it?Shipper is going to have to distribute that load evenly to get legal.Must have been a newby loading the trl.I had a load like that once.Thank god Pilot was only a block awy.Spent over an he trying to get it legal. Finally went back to shipper gave them all the scale tickets. He wasn't mad he had to rework load.He was new and I was his very first trl, lucky me,lol.

In a similar situation I have actually went back and told them (nicely) to take the entire load off. Just because some dummy will take it like that, doesn't mean I'm that dummy.

They have loading programs that these places can use to figure out how to load a trailer legally. One program, TruckLoadBalance is even free. I know different T/T combinations will have different weights but avoiding all the weight in the nose or on the tail isn't that difficult, especially using some software to help do it.

No sir! Pilot was an hour away from shipper. Shipper was in middle of nowhere Virginia. The numbers I posted are with tandems all the way forward and 5th wheel all the way back.

Exactly what I would do....and have done. More than once. If they don't get it legal I sit there on their yard till they do.....and keep dispatch in the loop. I had one in Connecticut that weighed legal in the shippers scales and was 35,500 on the tandems on the cat scale. Once I figured the discrepancy on their scales I made her do it 5 times till she got it right. She didn't want to because 'our scales say it's legal' and told her I had a certified weight in black and white right here and I wasn't moving till she did. She kept half-### barely moving anything until she got a weight I liked. Dispatch backed me 100% with several calls to her supervisor each time it still wasn't right. Eventually it was good but what a pita. Stand firm and don't run until it's legal.

From the original position I would think moving the fifth wheel back 2 holes and go with it.

How many pallets? The only time I had a load that bad was a multi pickup. Had to reload and scale twice until I was able to get it remotely legal. Special thanks to the guys at Old Dominion in Montgomery, Alabama for helping me on that one.

Post #23 ,, She had said the fifth wheel has been as far back as it will go, for initial and after "reworking".
Besides that, she was already overweight on her steer axle by 2180 lbs.
3180 lbs over would be even worse... if she could move it 2 holes back.

Right now your combined steering & drive weights are 2,320 over, and you have both fifth wheel & trailer tandems set at maximum settings, to put the least weight on the front.
You have no choice but to have the shipper move about 4,000 lbs to the rear.
