Pull the transponder off the windshield and sit on it. It won't even know you are there, Then you can take your chances the "traditional" way.

Also.....I only have 31K in the box so I wouldn't think that it would have sent any red flags to the weigh in motion.

The PrePass manual says obey the PrePass signal. The scales near Manchester, TN on I-24 for years used to leave their PrePass transmitter signalling "enter weigh station" even though their road signs said "closed".

In a conflict I follow the physical signs over PrePass or other electronic devices. The PrePass lawyers are not going to tell you to ignore their device. The manual is vetted by their lawyers.

AND this is the best advice. I know from experience when a scale master has closed up they don't want drivers coming in the scale. Sometimes they have a driver stopped and are giving them a citation. I remember once when a truck broke down right on a static scale. Folks when that sign says closed or flashes bypass this is what they dang well mean. Forget that dang prepass red light and go on.

I agree that the sign trumps the prepass. As moose said, the sign is controlled by the DOT at that specific location. It is the most direct line of communication with the scale operator.

The sign dosn't trump PrePass. Why even bother with PrePass if it did?

Because this should never happen. What it means when it does happen is the person operating the prepass computer has not changed the scale's status before they changed that sign. Pre pass is a great system. However it does have these human limitations.

Yes, but it dosn't matter to PrePass whether the scale master forgot to flip the switch. It will just know you didn't stop and then tell _everyone_ that you didn't stop.
There is no "yeah i know it's closed" or "I know he isn't going to be bothered by me", it red or green, yes or no and that's it.
