    I've gotten one in Virginia.... They just leave you on the scale until the surge stops moving around and then write away......

    When they were measured by Saybolt, back when the actually used water to make the strapping chart, the 'marker' settings were also shown on the calibration chart as in; bottom marker 6500, middle marker 7000, top marker 7500.....

    6 axles for 104 000lbs thats easy.
    Try 98 000lbs on 5 axles.:p

    That company does have an onsite scale doesn t it?When you weigh empty I would ask the folks running the scale.They probably have alot of exp and knows exactly how much oil to load.

    Hangers and seals are a good way to gauge, but aren't real precise. Depending on what type of material and temperature the volume can vary somewhat. Hot oil at 350 degrees will expand a bit more than Emulsion at 150.

    Done that a time or twenty. Makes for an interesting ride, with 27 tons in the can.

    Right! How frequently I went from tanker with a forward King pin to a tanker with a set back one. I just left it to the rear. Sometimes I did pull it close when I went to Baltimore though. Some of the turns really needed a shorter truck.
