What if a weight station is closed and you end up scaleing yourself there and you are overweight. But there's a state patrol/ dot officer there can he still give you a ticket even if the scale said it was closed ?

They can inspect you anywhere. Use a cat scale at a truck stop is a better option. Fly to the spider….snowmantrucking101 and Coolbreezin Thank this.

If he is a dot officer, yes. It would technically be no diffrent then if he mobile scaled you. Maybe in theroy you may be able to talk around that issue. In which case he WOULD pull out mobile scales and he WOULD use probable cause as why and YOU would have one hell of a time argueing otherwise to any judge or jurry that he didnt have it.
Bout the only places a DoT officer cant screw with your rig are on orivate property or inside your garage. And even thats dubious nowadays.gentleroger and Juan1998 Thank this. -
the important question is this - why would you even pull into a closed coop?
You go to a cat scale and get weighed, not at the coop.homeskillet, expedite_it, firemedic2816 and 14 others Thank this. -
Depending on where you are, sometimes they’ll turn the readout towards the window so it can be seen from the outside. Frannie WY port does this still. The scale north of Salmon ID had a button on the outside of the building you could push and it would turn on the outside display so you can weigh yourself. Montana has a few scales that the outside display works all the time. Get off the interstate and you don’t always have access to a Cat scale so it’s nice being able to check weights at a state scale.hunts2much, Accidental Trucker, Dennixx and 22 others Thank this.

Parking is parking and i know my rig can and will pass a level 1. Would not be the first coop ive taken a 10 at. As towards weight its never come up for me but i can see that.
Id still be leery of knowingly going in overweight though.gentleroger, Flat Earth Trucker and Juan1998 Thank this. -
I had pulled in an open scale one day, unfortunately I was the last one in when they closest them. Right after I passed the scale plate, it was a green light. I pulled of to the side right after to used the Porto potty. No one else was inside the scale facility. I went in did my business and when I walked back to the truck, the LEO was there and said, “Can you please go back in the scale to check your weight, I had walked away for a second” he said to me. So I did what he said, well guess what, I was 1500 lbs over on the rear tandem. Long story short, I adjusted the weight, and received NO citation, only because there was a shift change and the new shift didn’t right up because he said the prior shift should’ve done it. My point is, YES, they can’t right you up even if there closed.
