The truck by a long shot.

Call CAT. Call Cummins. Ask them how much the software costs. Do your research.
-
I know what it costs me, I use Cummins, $1100 a year. It saves me a hell of a lot more than $1100.Big Road Skateboard Thanks this.

Exactly. It's yearly now and it's an expense that must be paid year after year after year. Much more than a single ECM if one would happen to ruin one.
You'd have to be a total moron to damage an ECM using the software. In fact, that's the kind of person that probably shouldn't even be messing with an ECM in first place though.Snailexpress and FloridaRetired Thank this. -
$1100 for legitimate software per year is a whole lot cheaper then a truck in one whack.
You'd have to go back to 1920 to find a truck for $1100.
That says $2995.

Not sure how software can destroy an entire truck but ok. Do whatever makes you happy.Dadetrucking305 Thanks this.

I can tell you how software tweaked my car. Had to pull it out.
Computers can mess up computers. And trucks have computers. Called modules.
Electronics. Anything can get messed up. -
Not possible to detect whether a previous connection was done with an exact software version. Some can see a log of previous connections but that's pretty much where it ends. It's impossible to tell whether a version of software has been "hacked" or not from a simple connection log.Dadetrucking305 Thanks this.
