I think I read or heard there is also a fuel cost per mile on the kr also. the D only has the cost per trip. It's about 30 bucks difference between the two models, is the smoothed over 8 second mpg worth 30? I'd say yes, but I'm sure many will say no.US MARINE Thanks this. -
I'm gonna get one cause I'm wanting a boost gauge and the rest is added bonus especially if I can get pyro out of it
-
well, there again, the only way the scangauge can tell you your boost is if a sensor is sending the info to the ecm. also, a manual boost gauge could be installed in your truck for under 50 bucks. just got to put a quarter inch airline from the intake manifold to a gauge. can buy the gauge at any AutoZone, drill a hole in the firewall, run the airline, buy a hole saw for your drill and pick a spot on your dash.
you should still get the scan gauge. but don't be afraid to install manual gauges, they are a lot more accurate than electronic ones anyway. And rear end temperature gauges could save you some big bucks if you blew a seal. Same as tranny temp. any owner operator that cares about his truck at all would put those in.SheepDog Thanks this. -
well, i've been looking it over. and from what i can tell. the xgauge applies to cars. there's no mention of diesels anywhere on the support page. so a pyro may be out of the question.
but if some of you guys that have it have made the xgauge factor work. share the knowledge please.
TPS=Throttle Position Sensor.
it's interesting to see how the horsepower comes into play along with the mpg and boost factors when climbing hills. they say a lighter throttle helps fuel economy. but i've climbed hills at 1700 rpms. not needing much throttle. and the mpg reads 1.3 - 2.8. horsepower seems to constantly changinhg even though boost stays the same. and trying to keep boost under 20. don't see it happening on a hill. unless you plan on idling in first gear all the way up. -
No wonder your fuel mileage sucks, what are you doing running at 1700rpm?
SheepDog Thanks this. -
by the way. i don't pull areo dynamic freight surrounded by 4 walls and a roof on flat land.Last edited: Jul 30, 2013

Depends on your gear ratio I'd say .. But I'm not at 1700 pulling a hill I'm around 1500-1550 but each truck is different
-
i'm either 1700 with light throttle and col engine. or 1300 with full throttle and hot engine.
quite frankly i like the 1700 method as it climbs 3 - 5 mphs faster. 1500 is next on the list though since i just got my scangauge and am still playing around with real time fuel average. also gouing to start playing with the load factor gauge. -
Get you a manual fan switch also .. Helps in engine heat
i flip it on when I'm in a climb and stay at 1500-1550 and keep fan on
