    I have a Scania R124 2002model.
I have got a blown turbo however it is not the one next to the manifold it is attached at the back of the motor about half way down the block near the flywheel housing. I have been it touch with Scania and they are telling me it will be about $4400 for an exchange one.
Can any one tell me what it does as I cannot figure it out and if it doesnt do a lot can I run without it.

It sounds like the turbo compound turbo which is connected to the flywheel by hydraulic coupling. Think you will end up with a bigger bill than $4400 have heard bits of the turbo can end up in the sump. Don't know if it will run without it probably not.
