# slasher I have some questions related to the Scania About heavy haluge tractor with the new 730 hp engine which transmission will be installed by laxa? TC-tronic HD ( without primary retarder) or 16s252 with wsk440 or tc tronic ( also with limited torque ? )
And why they don t put american engines in eurotrucks if they are soooo good ? Russia is a very good example. This country really tests durability. Not much mountains but very extreme road conditions and weather plus poor quality fuel. The best thing about american trucks is the sleeper. I would hope they remove the stupid lenght limitations one day in EU. Those who need to manouver in tight spaces buy short trucks and who don`t buy long ones. Plain and simple. In nothern europe (Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lietova) you would not have big problems with longer trucks doing FTL work. At the moment you could drive longline only in Sweden without restrictions (25m allowed).
So, you get to have longer trucks lately. Did you get longer sleepers with that too? Or, maybe your "CARING" socialist government cares only about putting more weight on you trucks ? Oh boy. You duped and don't even know it.
I know. Cool Rig. It really is. Well, WAS actually. All you care in EU is cargo and weight. You see, thats funny, because in U.S. truckers are the ones who dictate whats in the truck and how is it going to be - when they ordering it its like some scientific project. I bought the truck right of the lot, because I liked the way it specified by someone who then dropped the order. But when it came to the trailer - it took few weeks of just a discussions between factory, salesman and me. I am nobody. Just a Produce Hauler with one truck. Now, tell me WHY Longline is thing of the past, despite being so dang cool idea.
Not bad......not bad..... I predict those will be future "Port Trucks" after Obama and Calderon can figure out NAFTA..... For you Euro's...That's an inside joke in the states....
-First Scania longline was more like a limited edition ( number of trucks , equipment ,engine -came only with the best equipment ,580hp v8 alu rims , automated gearbox......) -Scania longline was available only as a tractor ( not rigid ) -price -too long wheelbase (4.3 or 4.7m for 4x2 and 3.9 or 4.3m for 6x2 6x2*4 (with stearable tag axle) or 6x4 as a tracor legally not allowed in most countries of Europe to pull classic semitrailer ( 13.6m) shorter, there are only by special orders.... or if you drive dump-tipper trailer or a tanker longline is too heavy (1770lbs more then topline -which is also too heavy for this transport sector
In other words, when Scania had built something decent, it happened to be too pricey, too heavy and too long for your stupid regulations. It speaks volumes about socialist governments and the way they kill trucking industry by over-regulating it
