2 years ago same magazine tested Scania 620, Volvo 700, Man 680 and MB 600. Scania beat everyone, MAN was second, Volvo third and MB last.

yeah i know
but even in case if i live in scandinavia and need lot of power for 60t i would never go above 620
because there is no manual , it is pretty expensive
sound is not characteristic v8 and it use 10L more oil oil intervals are 30 000km shorter and need only synthetic oil -
The 620 I'm driving sounds very like the old 14l, I think the 580 has an easier gearbox to use, 620 is overdrive, but 620 is a #### good truck, no problems, very efficient and loads of torque, I have videos of passing other trucks flat out while 10 tonnes heavier at least 15 kph faster
-
620 with 3.4 diff ratio and 315/70tires can outperform 730 with 2.92 diff and same tires
-
Volvo were never realistic in power outputs, our 420 scanias would outpull Volvo 460's , Volvo's were always pretty lagging behind on power
-
Volvo low end torque is electronically limited, just compare curves.
Yep, 400 hp actros accelerates better D12 420 hp -
I think I have that test somewhere (translated in one of our trucking mags)...and if I remember corectlly, fh16-700 was still fastest, just not as much as you would except...r620 was really good, and they said that tgx 680 was way more suitable for heavy haul (not sure what they tought by that tough...) -
I think they made 7 different type tests and Volvo won only 2. In fact on the same route this new 750 was slower than that old 700, don't know why.

I don't understand why slower gearing should be stronger, why can't you just change gears? That's what gearbox is for.
